My night was restless, to say the least, as tired as I was I couldn't help but think back. Yesterday felt like a turning point but recalling the events nothing really stood out as immaculate to me. It seemed more like fate playing a trick on me, that the first person to like me since the shift of government occurred happens to be someone I am trying so hard to avoid. I tossed and turned the rest of the night continuing to wonder why him?
Too soon my alarm rang out through my room letting me know it was time to get up. It's too damn early for this I thought grabbing my phone and sliding the alarm off, no sooner than I did that I noticed a text from Mark
What could he want this early?
Hey Cassy,
Mary really isn't feeling good I'm going to bring her up to the doctor's today. Don't bother opening the store after yesterday we both need a well-deserved break see you Monday!
A sense of worry passed over me Marry hasn't been doing overly well the last year and has had a few health scares, I just hope she will be fine and they will be able to help her.
Deciding I probably won't be able to go back to sleep after getting that text I might as well get up and begin my day.
I grab an elastic off my nightstand before pulling my hair up into a messy bun and head down the stairs to grab a coffee.
The sound of my bare feet padding down the stairs could be heard through the house, granted I never heard dad come in last night so I must be alone. This has happened for as long as I can remember, whenever something big comes in at work he just disappears for a few days. It really doesn't bother my I enjoy the time to myself.
I waltz into the kitchen turning on the coffee machine before connecting my phone to the speakers. Citizen Solider softly played through the speakers filling the house with music. I grabbed a mug down while quietly humming along with the melody. I filled my cup with the warm liquid before inhaling deep letting the familiar smell calm me.
Carrying my cup to the livingroom I decide to watch the news while this morning. I pop my cup down on the side table before sitting down in the corner on the couch and curling my legs up in front of me. Flipping the tv on I grab my cup continue to sip it while the news anchor begins her daily good morning spiel. I listen to her as she goes over the weather report for the day which consisted of sun and rising temperatures which were average for this time of year. She went on to recap on a developing story from yesterday, Alpha Jackson will be stepping down tonight and his son Xavier will be taking his place as Alpha of the North American Pack.
This news didn't really surprise me. The Alphas son was now 24, He was supposed to take over three years ago but it was postponed to let him travel the world to try and find his mate. At the time it was huge news and his face was plastered on every magazine and gossip television show for months. It was the talk of the school for weeks it's all anyone seemed to talk about girls and boys alike. I couldn't help but agree, he was a very attractive man but I don't quite see why girls were throwing themselves at him. It's not like he will mate with them and forget about his goddess-given one, even if I don't quite agree with the practice of mates I can understand how sacred they are to the wolf community.
The New anchor continues on with her story but I'm not as interested in the news as I thought I would be. I turn off the tv and let my music quietly fill the house once again as I head up to my room. I walk straight to my closet grabbing out a white knee-length cap sleeve dress before heading to the bathroom.
Looking at my reflection I laugh slightly at the sight of the messy bun that looks like it's falling off my head. I quickly unwrap the elastic and brushing it up into a neater-looking bun making sure to place a few pins to secure it. Again opting for a more natural look I grab my mascara applying a light coat before stripping down and throwing the dress over my head.
