It started much like any other day. I awoke at 6 am to the repetitive buzzing of my alarm "Monday" I groaned as I began turning to get out of bed. I turned off my alarm and walked over to my closet to grab my clothing "no, no, no" I began to say until I happened on a shirt I forgot I had. Then I just had to grab my jeans and I was good to go. I grabbed my bag and started towards the kitchen to grab by breakfast before running to the bus stop.
The bus ride was long and loud as always. My one relief was class I always knew what to do in class. I was the best of the best nothing but perfect. Then she appeared, a new girl transferring partway through the year. Not only that but she was in all of my classes despite us being high schoolers and there being so many possibilities for schedules.
It appeared seemed strange to me but then at the end of the day she walked up and began talking to me. "Are you her?" I though that it was an odd thing to ask. "Did someone say something about me?" I replied in a questioning tone. "You don't know me but I need your help." She said in a slightly desperate tone. I thought she was probably some kid that never grew up... that she was a walking target for bullies. "Look I don't even know you name." I decided to reply trying to end the conversation quickly so that people didn't think I as close to her. "Oh how silly of me my name is Evelyn. your name is Sarah right?" "Sorry but I have to make it to my bus before it leaves."
Finally I had and excuse to stop talking to her. At least that's what I thought but much to my surprise she got on the same bus and even sat next to me. "Oh great we ride the same bus now we can keep talking!" Great just great like the bus ride couldn't feel any longer. "Yeah I guess so." I replied in a unenthusiastic tone. "I need your help with something big. To help me contact you out of school can I have your phone number." Yeah she must be insane there is no other way this isn't some story like I've read before this is real life. "Sorry I d-" I was cut of by my phone ringing. So much for trying to tell her I don't have one. I reluctantly told her "Yeah my number is +1-xxx-xxx-xxxx." "Okay I'll make sure to save it!" She continued to talk about crazy things for the rest of the ride. I mostly ignored what she was saying but I did hear things like "the end of the world" a "doll" a "book" and a "race against time".
We eventually reached my stop. I had never been so happy to get home before and hoped to not run into her again until the ride home tomorrow then I remembered. "crap" slipped out of my mouth as I remembered I share every class with her. "What happened?" My mom said from the other room. "Nothing much just noticed that I left my book in my locker at school." It wasn't a complete lie I did forget my book I though to myself trying to reason what I was telling my mother. The rest of the day went as normal aside from the messages from Evelyn I ignored hoping she would just loose interest.
