"Kenma, I swear I'm going to quit and this time I'm serious," Sage says while walking back to their job after their break.
Sage was your everyday college student, they live with their four besties, they eat instant ramen, and they're constantly stressed from exams. Initially Sage was going to say fuck it and just travel the world with their friend Nishinoya, but their parents had other plans for them. Due to them being an only child Sage's parents have always had high expectations for them. Ever since Sage could remember it's always been I expect A's, achieve to be the best, did you even try, etc? Since they were forced into a college they decided to major in business and management.
"Sage you say this every week, and we both know that you're not going to do it because you hate confrontation." Kenma reminds them.
Sage sighs and contemplates why they decided to call Kenma out of all the people they're friends with. But their options are limited. Fukunaga is either studying or trying out a new recipe, Tsukki is probably reading some dinosaur x reader fan fiction or listening to music, and Osamu is fighting with his brother over the phone and won't pick up. Kenma on the other hand is a college dropout who made it off of streaming and gaming, so when it's not Monday, Wednesday, or Friday he's most likely sleeping or gaming. There's also the fact that Sage practically is attached to the hip when it comes to Kenma and Fukunaga. They met them when they started their first year and they welcomed them with open arms. Sage enters through the back entrance of the cafe and sits on the table in the break room.
"Kenma see I hear what you say, and I will completely disregard it." Sage wraps the apron around their waist.
"Sage I will dropkick you without hesitation," Sage could practically see the scowl on their face. This a common reassurance not only between the two but their whole friend group. Sage receives advice from one or all of their friends and then does the complete opposite.
" Dropkick me and I'll send Tsukki to bully you on your stream." Sage chuckles.
They hear Kenma groan on the other side of the phone which causes Sage to laugh even louder. This brings attention to their coworkers Yamaguchi and Semi.
"You all good Sage?" Semi peers around the door and see's Sage clutching their stomach. Sage gives a thumbs up while laughing, they compose themselves before speaking once more.
"Well Kenma, seems like I've got to get back to work, I'll see you when I get home."They look in the mirror once more
"Okay, remember to call one of us to pick you up." Kenma reminds them.
"yeah, yeah Dad." Sage then hangs up and heads out to the register.
It would be an understatement if Sage said they dislike their job, if it weren't for wanting to be independent and not depend on their parents they wouldn't be working at this cafe. Whether it's the plain-out disrespect not only them but their coworkers receive it's the fact they either work early morning or late night and no in-between. But there are some positives to working at the cafe. They met one of their closest friends Osamu and Tsukki here. Osamu fell in love with the brownies at the cafe and practically begged Sage to give them the recipe for brownies. Tsukki on the other hand was very difficult to become friends with, not only was he very reserved he tended to be very distant. That was until Sage pointed out the dinosaur charm he had on his phone, they ended up bonding over their love of dinosaurs.
"Hello, my favorite coworkers!"
