one — concert.

y/n couldn't focus.
and it wasn't because of the obnoxiously loud music blasting in her ears. it wasn't because her cat, kenma rubbed at her toes, thin tail tickling her leg, and it wasn't because midoriya was beside her, sneaking quick glances, and failing at being subtle.
she couldn't focus because she was waiting for something— waiting on something that was supposed to happen and hadn't yet.
y/n chewed on her bottom lip with a slight whine and picked up her phone, swiping across the screen and going to a certain website- a website where her tickets should be processing. she sighed when she found the page wouldn't load, throwing her head back. she had no idea why she thought it would be an easy process when she ordered the tickets so last minute.
screaming in japan was the biggest group in the rock community now.
y/n was proud to say she'd been listening to them since their debut- five years ago when she was sixteen. their songs would be the only thing she played for days on end. they're the reason she somehow made it through highschool, and the reason she's hanging on in college. she smiled at the thought.
they were chaotic.
completely different from any other group- and she was proud that they were finally getting the recognition they deserved, but she found the new fans to be annoying.
it just wasn't the same. everytime she attempted to join the discussions or discord for the band, it would be nothing but 'omg, katsuki looked so hot in that interview! i want him to take his shirt off!' or 'i want momo to suffocate me with her chest' and even, 'i want jirou to choke me with her ear skin.' which just confused y/n.
jirou stopped stretching her ears because she became insecure about how long the skin was- she wouldn't want to choke anyone with it and people would know that if they actually paid attention to the interviews and weren't so hyperfocused on their appearances.
or maybe y/n was just being bitter.
jirou had nothing to be insecure about. she was cute and perfect in every single way, stretched ears, face markings and all, y/n adored every part of the lead singer.
she would actually kill to see and hear jirou up close. shake her hand- or not even. be in her presence- in the same room. she was sure she'd pass out. she'd never got to see them live. ever. they were never touring where she was and her parents would never agree to let her go to a concert, anyway.
but now, she had a decent amount of money, and she could go wherever she wanted.
with that bit of hope fueling her, y/n refreshed the website again and—
processing failed. sold out.
y/n blinked at her screen a few times before taking in a breath and tossing her phone across the room. midoriya jumped, frantic eyes landing on y/n as the girl kicked her legs in frustration, pushing her notebook off her lap and tugging out her earbuds.
"i fucking hate it here!" she groaned, rubbing her eyes. "they're sold out, izuku! since when did they get so popular? i mean i'm not angry it's just- i've been waiting for years! this was supposed to be my time! i was supposed to- ugh!"
"uh- mhm," midoriya stood up to pick up her phone, pursing his lips at the bold, red words 'sold out.' "they've been getting more popular since one of their songs blew up on tiktok," he shrugged with a sympathetic look. "everyone's edgy and rock now, i guess."
"this isn't fair," y/n was over her anger within seconds and resorted to sulking, planning her own pity party for later. ice cream, blankets, and listening to their songs in 8d so she could at least somewhat feel like she was at a concert. a private concert, just for her.
or maybe, she'd just watch some interviews. jirou had done a few, she was pretty sure and she didn't get the chance to watch them, yet. it sounded like a legit, comforting plan.
with another disappointed sigh, she moved to clean her work stuff, deciding to just skip the homework for the night.
and right at that moment, the front door swung open. it loudly it the wall and back and in walked their other roommate.
"hey, shou-"
"stop everything you're doing right now, this is important." todoroki cut off midoriya as he swiped across the screen of his phone. he seemed out of breath and panicked, yet excited. with a few breaths, he held out his phone to show both y/n and midoriya. the two exchanged looks before shuffling closer for a better look.
midoriya gasped.
y/n choked.
"my stupid father somehow got his hands on these tickets- apparently his colleagues have connections- i don't really give a fuck. but do you see this?" todoroki was breathing hard, his eyes narrow and serious as he tightened his grip on his phone. "three tickets to see screaming in japan in february."
"shut up." y/n shook her head in disbelief, getting a closer look at todoroki's phone. his dad, enji, sent him pictures of the tickets that he'd be sending over through mail. "i- i can't believe it. is this actually happening?" she glanced up at todoroki, narrowed his eyes, lips curling into a small smile.
"we're going to that concert."
