CHAPTER 1

ZARA's POV

'Urghhhh'. I woke up with a start. I had this dream after so long of me and mom in the backyard. WEIRDDDDD!

Oh Mommy I still haven't found love and I am in the last year of the high school.

Just then I looked at my alarm clock and it was 7:30 already. Gawddd! I need to hurry up. First day of the last year of high school and girl you don't want to be late.

I quickly picked up my outfit I had laid out last night and rushed in to take a shower. I could smell the pancakes. My favourite breakfast on school days. I took the shortest shower in the history and put a bit of mascara and lip gloss and rushed down.

'Good Morning Mom. Good Morning Dad.'

'Good Morning Love'. 'Good Morning Pumpkin. All set for the school?' My Dad asked me. After all these years I am still his baby girl/ buttercup/ Pumpkin and when I protested that I've grown up now and I refuse to answer to these names, he gave me such a sad look that even after hardening my resolve, I just melted right then and there on the spot. So it was decided that he won't call me these nicknames in front of my friends but I am not allowed to protest in front of the family.

'Everything is all set Dad. Sam should be on the way to pick me up.' I answered at the same time trying to put as much as maple syrup on the pancake as I possibly can. After shoveling down few mouth pieces I could hear a car in the driveway and a second later there was a horn. That must be Sam. She's my best friend and we've been together since middle school when one guy tried to pull her pigtails and I pushed him away. That moment forged our bond and Oh Boy if someone tried to do that to her now, that poor guy would need my help instead.

I said my goodbyes to my parents and tried to run out of the hug and kiss my mom still bestowed on me and YES, I was unsuccessful.

I ran out of the house and whistled as soon as I stood next to the new (okay, not so new) car Sam got for her Birthday last week. It was a hands-me-down sedan but girl, she at least got a car.

'Wow Sammy! This is awesome. Does that mean you are my personal chauffeur for next few months?'

'HA! You wish. You are just getting a test drive Madam. After that how you get to the school is not my problem.'

'Wow girl! That was rough even for you.'

'Common chica! Get in the car. I want to get a good parking spot. I am already excited for this year. Prom!!!' She squealed the last word with a good dramatical sigh. She really fits into the drama society of the school. I got into the car and we started our ride to school.

'Prom is like million years away. Think about all the college applications we have to fill and think about all the nights we are going to lie awake and worry about if we are getting into the college or not.'

'Listen Zee, I'll be lying awake at night but that sure won't be about college. Plus Prom is important too and I already know who I am going to Prom with and I've to make sure no other biatch gets her hands on my man.'

I looked at Sam and she had that smug look mixed with determination and worry and I could just utter one word. 'WHO?'

'What do you mean Who?'

'I mean Who are you going to Prom with and how is that I don't know anything about it.' I said the last part shouting. I mean my best friend is going out with a guy and I don't even know about it. HELLO!! Why did man invent all these gadgets? So people could communicate but I guess my best friend forgot that phones and skype and IM's could be used to tell stuff, IMPORTANT stuff.

Sam looked at me and saw my angry face and gave me a guity look. 'I've been talking to Ryan this summer and he went out few times.'

'Oh those few times will be when you ditched me and had fever, flu, tonsillitis, cold?' I asked her.

'Umm, yeah?' She gave me a sheepish glance and continued. 'I met up with him and he seemed really nice and imagine we had so many things in common too and last week he asked me out and I said yes. And before you ask me why I didn't tell you, you were busy working.'

'I know I was busy. I am saving for college but I am not that busy.' I said angry again.

'Ok, let's not fight. We are at the school and Wohooooo we got a nice spot to park. Just say that you are happy for me and super excited that you'll get to hear all the juicy details about my love life and who knows, maybe I'll fix you up with any of Ryan's friends. I have Buisness first class, what do you have?' Sam said that all and I'm pretty sure without taking a breath in between.

'Yes, I am happy for you and NOT super excited to hear details about your ove life but I am still angry with you. We don't hide stuff from each other and DO NOT fix me up with anyone. I can find someone myself. Thank you ver much and I have Chemistry first.'

'Ok then lets start our first day to our way to freedom.' She said that so dramatically and so loud that a few juniors stopped and stared at her. I just sighed and dragged her to our lockers.
