Truth Or Dare

Chapter 3

Nick's POV

'Ryan!!!' I shouted as soon as I entered the cafeteria. That guy was supposed to help me figure out my first day in school but instead he was being a pain in the ass. First he sent me off to a wrong class in the morning. Instead of taking Business, I gave my intro in Physics and then was very embarrassingly corrected that I was in wrong the class and then instead of telling me where the cafeteria was, I was given directions to the girls lavatory.

It was enough for one day and it does not give him extra freedom to harass a new kid in the school even if he was best friend of that new kid. Yes, me and Ryan go way back. We used to be neighbours and have done everything together. Our parents even have our photographs in our diapers. We made a pact never to mention that EVER, not even in passing and then my dad moved to L.A. but we are back now, back to Seattle, a place that's always been home.

I saw Ryan sitting next to 2 girsl. One was Sam, Ryan's girl, total fun but the other one was new to me. She was laughing at something Sam was saying and I know its a cliche but that laugh was musical. And when he heard me shouting, she looked up and I could not look away. She was beautiful. She was a brunette and when she turned I could see her hair giving off dark brown and black shade under the light. Her eyes widened when she saw me and reminded me of exotic dark chocolate. She had a small nose and full lower lip and all I wanted to do was bite that lip.

Somehow I managed to keep moving and reached their table and I could hear the end of her conversation and Sam replying that 'It is Nicholas Lake'.

'Hey buddy, why were you shouting down the hall?' Ryan asked and he had that glint in his eyes which said he was having fun on my account. He was so going to get it.

'Oh you know BUDDY, I was shouting because somehow I managed to get myself in a wrong class in the morning and was almost ready to order my pizza in girls lavatory.' I said the last part almost shouting.

The girl sitting next to Sam just burst out of laughing and when I saw her, she had tears coming out of her eyes and it was not a pretty scene but she looked beautiful and all my anger just drained right there and then and then I heard and saw Ryan laughing and doubling on the table and my anger was full back on.

'You are a dick, man! You were supposed to help me settle down. I don't know why we are still friends.'

'Hey bro, I was helping you settle down.' Ryan replied still laughing and when he finally stopped laughing he started introducing me. 'You know Sam,  my girl and this is Zee, short for Zara Anderson. And Zara this is Nick, short for Nicholas Lake. He's my man. He moved down from L.A.'

'Hi, Nicholas.' The girl replied or may I say Zara replied. It's a beautiful name and it suited her alright. 

'Hey Zara, call me Nick.' I said with cockiness.

'Well do not call me Zee.' She replied with fire and before my smugness could return and I could reply her, the bell rang and damn I didn't even have my lunch. Everybody started hurrying out of the cafe and I started following Ryan. Ryan and Sam made a huge show of making out and Zara had to drag Sam away.

'Don't think about it my man.' Ryan suddenly said.

'What are you talking about Ryan?' I asked him with such innocence that I am sure I could fool a saint too but I guess its hard to fool a demon right? because it definitely didn't work on Ryan.

'Listen Nick, I know that look and just don't think about it.'

'She's cute dude and she's got that fire in her which is calling to me.'

'No man. She's a nice girl. Just leave her.'

'You mean I'm not a nice a guy. You just crushed my heart mate.'

'What I mean is that she's a serious kind of girl. If she gets into the relationship she'll give everything to it and she's a white picket fence girl.'

'I give everything too when I get into a relationship.' I said with a smirk.

'You are a dickhead. Just let her be okay. You see that girl coming towards us? Rachel, girl with the claws, a perfect match for you.'

I saw who he was pointing to and saw a sexy strawberry blond coming towards me.

'Hey Ryan. Since when did you start sitting with Zara and clan?' Rachel said with a bite.

'Ohh since the time you started cluttering my lunch table Rachel.' Ryan said with an equal bite. Man, these people are going to rip each other here. Time to save the day.

'Hello, Rachel it is? I'm Nick.' 'Hi Nick, I saw you standing at Sam and that freak's table so I thought I should introduce you to better people. I guess Ryan has joined that freak and Sam too. Why don't you come and hang out with us from next time. We'll be so good for each other.'

By freak I am pretty sure she mean Zara. I wonder what Zara did to her that she's so catty towards her. Ryan told me to hook up with THIS creature. Its making me wonder if he's a friend or foe. Plus she completely put me off as soon as she opened her mouth. Join her? No, thank you.

'Umm, Yeah Next time....Sure..We gotta run.' 'See you around then handsome. Ryan.'

'You wanted me to hook up with future bridezilla? Are you out of your mind?' I asked Ryan as soon as we were out of the earshot.

'Just leave it man. enjoy your first day. Lots of fish in the sea.'

Not so many plus I have set my eyes on one fish namely Zara Anderson.
