"Do you believe now that there's such thing as a curse?" Naomi gritted through her teeth, her hands fiddling with the pocketknife in her front. She had seen demons harassing and possibly beheading humans from afar, and not in person. Her faith wasn't going to be strong enough, she had thought.

"This is no time for that!" Amelia grunted and shut the window as fast as she could, her back leaning against it momentarily. She huffed and turned to Naomi's hiding spot—under the wooden table by the bedside. "You still have the salt barriers activated, right?"

Naomi paused momentarily before proceeding, "Depends on who's asking."

"Naomi!"

"Look Amelia, you're not helping either! They're here because of-" Just before she could finish her statement, the door flew open and slammed hard against the wall, pieces of broken glasses and tables spreading across the floor within a blink of an eye.

So much for creating barriers.

Unfortunately, the girls couldn't see anything happening in the room. Not only was the room pitch black, but was heavily tensed—the indescribable aura of superiority incredulously evident.

But even as that, Amelia could hear something—muffled voices.

"Hay ish nigh." A deep inhumane voice rang in the room. "How durst he!" Its words sounded gibberish and ancient at the same time. 'It's hard to believe these creatures don't actually speak English', Amelia thought.

Amelia stole a quick glance at Naomi's direction, and as if on clue, Naomi nodded once their eyes met.

When Naomi was sure that the creatures weren't looking, she slipped her amulet to Amelia.

"Are you crazy? What then happens to you?" Amelia whispered in fear, "Take it back."

"Summon him." Naomi sounded scared. She wasn't scared of the creatures, well, maybe just a littlebut where she had him, Amelia didn't. She was scared of Amelia's safety.

Amelia felt her stomach tighten at her words and kept silent. After a short pause, she shook her head quickly, "It won't work..."

"Mine would always protect me—but what about yours?" Naomi smiled sadly, almost like she was aware of the consequences. "Hold the amulet tight to your chest and whatever happens, don't freaking let go. I got this."

"What...are you doing?" Amelia narrowed her eyes when Naomi suddenly shuffled her feet. "Stop it!"

Naomi shook her head and walked out of her hiding spot, her hands raised in the air for surrender. She could have sworn she felt the wind clawing at her face to run for her life.

"I'm the one you want, demons. I'm right here." Her voice came out innocent and yet scared.

"Naomi," Amelia mumbled, her throat hurting each time she tried to scream out her name.

The crackling of thunderbolt outside the window flashed a shadowy figure standing right in the middle of the room. The image of the eerie shadows sent chills to both Amelia and Naomi.

Amelia pressed her hands to my lips when she spotted one of the demons staring right through her, or that's what she had imagined.

"Naomi Campbell."

Amelia's eyes widened. 'So they can indeed speak English', Amelia thought with a scowl.

"Tell your friend to come out, hiding won't do her any better," The young demon sighed, "besides, she's terrible at that."

"I...she's not here. You're mistaking her for someone else - she just left." Naomi retorted, somehow blocking my front. Amelia shook her head and closed her eyes with a small sigh. 'So much for covering up, Naomi', Amelia voiced at the back of her mind and facepalmed at her friend's obvious lie.

"I can clearly hear her heartbeat and her deathblowing thoughts. Call her out or my guild will." The demon's eyes glowed violent red and as if to make his point, the other demons began to spread out intimidatingly.

"Why want a protected soul when an unused one is standing right in front of you?"

The demon gives Naomi a blank stare and lowers his face to hers, almost too close for her liking. "Maybe she can answer that herself."

"Just wait and see what happens when our guardians show up." Naomi narrowed her eyes at them and stepped back slowly.

The demon, assumed to be the prince, snickers almost immediately and walks to the balcony, the scarred marks on his face reflecting from the moonlight.

"There are no guardians, or angels." He shook his head with a smirk, "The guy's a cupid, a love God."

When Naomi couldn't talk, he continued, "Should I spell it out for you? I guess that's a yes then." Amusement flashed over his features, "He darts black arrows to pathetically hungry souls for his own selfish needs. Let me guess, the poor girl isn't aware of her fate and hasn't even met him yet." He chuckled.

Amelia couldn't take it anymore and stepped out of the curtains. "What did you just say?"

"Amelia, get back! It was only a trap!" Naomi gasped and pushed her out of the way, just in time to save her from a demonic possession marked for her.

"Finally found you." The demon prince grinned with amusement, running his dark gloved hands through his well hidden hair.

Amelia's eyes widened when she heard her friend groaning on the ground. She quickly knelt down besides Naomi and kept shaking her pale body, "Naomi! Get up, please."

"I'm...okay, I told you I would be." Naomi grinned and stood up, helping Amelia as she does so.

"No way," Amelia breathed out as no mark appeared on Naomi's skin. Which could mean only one thing.

"Say hello to Cal," Naomi pointed to the windowsill, her eyes sparkling with relief and excitement.

Of course Naomi couldn't see him—he was never assigned to see her. The only way to see other immortals like him was if they grant her the ability to, but in this case, let's say things got a little bit different.

"Uhh, Naomi..." Amelia raised her eyes in confusion when she saw the drapes swaying to the sides, as if to spell out how empty and cold the night was.

"Now!" Someone shouted out of nowhere.

The next thing she knew their wings started slamming against themselves behind their backs. Red streaks of light suddenly shot out from their splayed fingers, one of them almost colliding with her trembling figure—passing some handful strands of hair by her ears. Something within her made her feel like she wasn't alone—perhaps her guts?

"I just can't leave her, Cal. She's my friend!" Amelia turned to Naomi's direction and clenched her fists. Everything just felt so wrong to her.

"I don't have a guardian. I didn't have one all these while either," Amelia chanted over and over again, swallowing the sudden anger within her. "What I thought was my guardian was a goddamn cupid!"

"Amelia! What are you doing?" Naomi's screams suddenly filled the air, "You're only feeding them with your negativity!"

"Where's he...Cal?" Amelia stomped her feet when all she got back was silence, "Tell me, please! I know you're here, I can feel a presence in here!"

"Why don't you ask him yourself, he's right behind you," A small voice rang at the back of Amelia's mind. It was so small that for a moment she thought she had imagined it, but not until three immortals flew into the room.

Slowly raising her head to understand what was really going on, her eyes accidentally met with his, her body screaming certain cravings she couldn't fathom. Her breath hitched even more when she watched his wings slam upwards behind his back.

You know that feeling you have when you know that that person's just the one?

That's the one Amelia had.

Their leader took some steps forward and glared down the demons, "What the fuck is the meaning of all these?"
