Sesshoumaru and his companions were all invited up to a castle in the sky.
"Hello, Katsumi," Tsukihime greeted her daughter with a smile, sitting on the low platform beside the throne.
"Mama?" Katsumi said, surprised to see her there.
"So, you're Katsumi?" Sesshoumaru's mother said as she took to her throne, eying her up and down. Katsumi was nervous, but tried not to show it too much. She wanted to make a good impression. "You were right," Sesshoumaru's mother said to Tsukihime. "Our grandchildren are going to be adorable." Katsumi blushed, while Sesshoumaru remained as straight-faced as always.
'He isn't correcting her!?' Katsumi thought happily.
'He isn't correcting her!?' Jaken thought incredulously, glancing between Sesshoumaru and Katsumi with wide eyes. Sesshoumaru's mother looked at Rin and Kohaku. "So, Sesshoumaru... do you actually not hate humans? Those two human children you have with you... do you intend to eat them?"
'Eh?' Katsumi thought. 'Please tell me that's a bad joke...'
"Ridiculous," Sesshoumaru said. "Tenseiga's method of opening the meidou... surely you heard about it from Chichi-ue."
"Maybe... I was merely entrusted with this Meidouseki, after all..." his mother said, touching the amulet hanging around her neck.
"Meidouseki?" Sesshoumaru asked.
"I was told to use it if Sesshoumaru were to stop by," his mother said. "Oh yes, and he told me this as well... If you use the Meidouseki, Sesshoumaru will be faced with great danger, however you must not feel fear or sadness."
"And she says this while smiling..." Jaken said.
"She doesn't seem very worried," Rin said. Katsumi quietly agreed with them, sweat-dropping.
'Soooomehow, mother and son seem a lot a like...' Jaken thought, squinting.
"What will you do, Sesshoumaru?" his mother asked. "Don't keep your mother waiting."
"Hmph. The thought never crossed my mind," Sesshoumaru said.
"In that case, shall we have a bit of fun?" his mother said, holding the Meidouseki. She summoned forth a giant, dark hound. Sesshoumaru drew Tenseiga and attacked.
'Meidou Zangetsuha!' Sesshoumaru thought, slicing the hound, creating a dark crescent over its neck.
"So this is Sesshoumaru's Meidou... huh?" his mother said. "It's nowhere near a circle." The hound acted as if it had never been cut.
"What!? Sesshoumaru-sama's sword didn't cut it!?" Jaken exclaimed.
"That is a hellhound," Sesshoumaru's mother said. "Sesshoumaru, no matter what you do, your sword will neither injure nor heal it." The hellhound turned toward Kohaku and Rin.
"It's coming this way!" Rin said.
"!" Kohaku said as it swallowed him and Rin whole.
"Kya!" Rin cried.
"!" Sesshoumaru and Katsumi said. The dog dove into the Meidou crescent.
"Sesshoumaru-sama, Rin is...!" Jaken exclaimed.
"Tch..." Sesshoumaru said, immediately heading for the crescent himself. Katsumi also moved to enter the crescent, but was stopped when a chain wrapped around her from behind. She suddenly felt extremely weak and fell to her knees.
"What the—!?" Katsumi said, startled and confused. She looked back and saw her mother holding onto the chain.
"You're not going anywhere," Tsukihime told her with a smile. "You can't help him with this."
