Hi everyone! I'm going to attempt to write a book again and hopefully I can actually follow through with it this time. Before diving into the first chapter I've created this short summary chapter of the main characters in the story as well as some background info regarding what school is like in China, as some parts of the story wouldn't make much sense if you imagined it with other schooling systems. Hopefully the prologue and my first chapter will be coming out soon, so see you then!

CONTEXT:

• Erica and Jianne are sisters who were born in the Philippines
• they moved to China in 2017
• they speak Tagalog, English, Chinese and basic Korean
•
• Aira was born in China but has Filipino parents
• she speaks Tagalog, Chinese and English
•
• Paris is fully Chinese and grew up in China
• She speaks Chinese and English
• she started singing at the age of 8 and became a trainee at the age of 13

• the school system in China ranges from 3-18 years old and is as follows:
---> 3-5 kindergarten
---> 6-12 primary
---> 13-15 middle school
---> 16-18 high school
• a typical school day in China starts at 7:30am and finishes at 5:00pm (for middle school and high school students)
• many students have a 2 hour lunch break and time to rest between classes

• extracurricular activities and organised events are common within schools
• students take 9 compulsory classes from the first year of middle school to the first year of high school
• there are weekly tests and monthly exams for students; after each exam the students are ranked and these tasks are displayed on the school notice board
