Chapter 1 - Clumsiness

I've always been a clumsy girl. Always had to mess things up. It's not fair - it seems that everything just goes perfectly for the popular girls! My name is Jenny Scone. I have bright green eyes with ginger hair. I could also be one of the most clumsiest people you will ever meet. Everyone else never seems to fall, or drop things, or muck up their sentences. It seems like there is a curse on me. The worst one happened two weeks ago. I was sitting next to my crush, Arran Smith in English. When we were told we could listen to music, Arran asked me to hold his new phone, the iPhone 6 while he looked for his earphones. Of course I said yes. Just as he had found them, my clumsiness took over. My hands slipped, and the phone came out of my hands. I tried to dive out of my chair to retrieve it, but this only resulted in me falling and the phone smashing. It has quite a big crack in the left corner. I guess it's fair to say he hates me. What a good way to get your crush to like you I say, what a good way.

As I'm walking to school today, I start having these thoughts. Just going around like this, I'm never going to get anyone to like me. Maybe I should start making an effort. However, it is going to be really hard to get Arran to like me, after the phone incident. But I make a promise to myself; I am going to keep on trying until he likes me. It might take a while, and a lot of effort, but it shall be worth it. I have already offered him my paper round money to help get his phone fixed. I now have a really positive attitude. I CAN do this, and I WILL do this.

"Ow!"
Stay awake Jenny. I was was so busy distracting myself that I didn't realise the football which had been kicked on front of me. As I pick myself back up, I hear the noise of laughter. It's Arran's group coming towards me. "Oh Jenny, you are such a fail," I mumble to myself.
"Nice one Jenny!"
I feel my cheeks going bright red, as the boys come to retrieve their ball. What a great way to start the day. I roll up my leggings to see a little scrape on my knee. It doesn't look that bad, but it stings like hell.

Soon I reach the school, where my best friend Katy is waiting for me.
"Hey Kate,"
"Don't call me that. I prefer Katy!" She jokes.
"Sorry!" I say, putting my hands up.
I suddenly remember my leggings are rolled up. It might not of looked as bad if they were both rolled up, but it was just one. I must have looked like an idiot.
"What've you done this time, Humpty Dumpty?!" She asks me as she sees the scar as I roll my leggings back down. Humpty Dumpty is my nickname from Katy for being so clumsy.
"Fell over a football" I reply ever so casually. She starts laughing.
"Oh you are so clumsy Jenny. You make me laugh!"
"Katy..." I ask.
"Yes?" She says, struggling to keep back her laughs, before she bursts into another giggle fit.
"Shut up! It's not that funny."
"Ok sorry!" She calms down. "What were you wanting to say?"
"I was just going to ask you, em," I feel my cheeks blushing.
"Don't be embarrassed! I'm you're best friend. What is it?"
"Do you think that Arran Smith will ever like me? Will I ever have a chance with him?" I blurt it all out.
"Oh you're going on about him again!"
"I hardly ever talk about him. What do you think? You could maybe help... Cause you know how you sit with him in maths?"
"Sorry Jenny, but I wouldn't like you if you smashed my phone!"
"But if I make it up to him, will I ever have a chance?"
"Well you will have to try really hard, but you never know, miracles can happen!"
Ding ring ring ding! The sound of school bell is horrible.
"I'm off to French. See ya at break!" She calls.
I shout bye to her. Not even in class yet and I'm starting have second thoughts about this idea. I don't know if Katy is right or not. Can I be bothered with all this work over one boy? It'll be worth it, I try to tell myself as I head to Maths.

"Pay attention, Jennifer Scone!" I suddenly wake up from my daydream as I hear the teachers voice screaming at me.
"Eh, sorry Mrs Cro-Croft" I mumble back. Why do my words go all jumpy?
"If you think you know it so much that you can daydream in my class, then I guess you can answer this next question!"
"Ehhh... "I look around the classroom for help, and everyone seems to be staring at me, some people smirking. Can't make a fool of myself.
"21...??" I guess.
The urge to face palm is irresistible.
"That'll be a lunchtime detention for you, Jenny Scone!"
Urghhh.....
I hear the horrible sound of the bell ringing in my hear. Horrible as it sounds, I was really glad to hear the familiar noise.
I head to science, getting squashed in the corridor.
"Do you mind?"
"Eh... I'm so sorry" I say. I just fell into Arran's back. What a fail.
"And Humpty Dumpty strikes again!" Teases Katy.
" I give her a dirty look, but before we can hold it any longer, when Arran's round the corner we burst into laughter.
"You are going to have to try really hard to get him to like you, Jenny! Sorry, but sometimes you have to face the truth."
"I'm determined." I had decided from my daydream in maths that I had to do this. I was determined.

I head to my seat where I sit next to Skye Richards. She's a bit of a bully.
"Saw you tripping in to Arran," she sniggers, glancing at her friend Jessica Rose who smirks at me.
"Save the talking till break," our science teacher Mr Davids says to us. Trust me, I wouldn't want to be speaking to them at break I think to myself.
"It was Jenny speaking - she was making fun of me!"
"Urghhhh." I groan. I can't be bothered putting up a fight and saying I didn't, that's just what Skye wants.
"I will not tolerate making fun of in my class. Now let's get on with the class - we're 8 minutes into the lesson," he says, glancing at his watch.
Soon the class is over and I let out a sigh of relief. As I'm walking out of the classroom I get shoved.
"Oh, Sorry!" Jessica says with the biggest hint of sarcasm in her voice. I fall into Mr Davids. I apologise to him, cursing Jessica. They are already gone by now. I don't understand, I've seen them pushing over people before, but they never fall! I rush out of the classroom to go and meet Kate.
