Mum brings me lunch. A cheese and lettuce baguette.
"Thank you," I smile as she passes the tray over.
"How's you're leg doing? Remember to take painkillers if they get that bad."
"It's alright, thanks." I say while taking a big bite out of my baguette.
"I'll leave you to eat your lunch then. Enjoy!"
"Thank you!" I muffle through the cheese and lettuce. Paddy comes running through. I haven't seen him since yesterday, when I fell.
"Hey boy!" I say while he slobbers all over me. He jumps up on to the couch and nestles on my sore leg.
"Ow! Not that one!" I yelp. He jumps off looking startled.
"Sorry paddy. That's my sore leg. Come up to the other side." I say while patting the space on the couch next to me. He leaps up.
Ding dong! I hear the doorbell ring. Dad goes and opens it. I hear a familiar voice, then Katie comes running through.
"Hi!" I say before I get interrupted.
"What did you do?!" She asks.
"I tripped up in the woods, and fell unconscious."
"What happened to your leg?"
"It's broken."
"It's broken?! You're so clumsy!" She teases.
"Shut up! Not my fault." I joke back in my own defence.
"Whose fault is it then?" She laughs. I hang my head, knowing she's won.
"What's the hospital like? I've never had to go." She asks.
"It's not too bad, but the beds are really uncomfy and it smells pretty yuck."
"Anyway, up for a night of Netflix at mine? I have popcorn, and you deserve a treat!"
"Ok, sure! But will we have to walk?" I ask, looking at my crutches.
"Ooh, you have crutches!" She exclaims as she picks them up. She tries using them. "Actually quite fun!"
"Yeah, not when you have a broken leg!"
She ignores me as she flails around the house with my crutches.
"Ahhh!" I hear. "Oh, I'm so sorry! Are you ok? Sorry!"
"Yeah I'm fine Katie. Maybe you and Jenny would like to go for a short walk, so she could have practise with her crutches?"
"Ok! We could walk to the red park?"
"That would be great, thanks!"
"Ok. I'll just go back to Jenny."
Katie comes running back through, holding the crutches this time.
"Who's the clumsy one now?"
"Shut up." She smirks. "Anyway we're going to the red park. Your mum says you have to get used to your crutches."
"I heard." I groan. "When are we going?"
"We could go now?"
"Alright. You might need to help me get up though!" She pulls me up of the couch.
"Jeez, you're heavy!" I ignore her.

We have just reached the park. Katie's playing on the swings like a child. We hear voices coming from round the corner. Skye walks round, with Jessica. Katie jumps off the swing, her face flushing.
"Look who it is! And she's in crutches!" I ignore them, and look desperately over to Katie for help.
"Oh shut up, you big bully!" I've always wondered how Katie has the confidence, but I guess it's just me. I'm so shy. They both laugh.
"Look who's with her! Fat Katie!"
I never normally have the confidence, like I was just saying, but I get really annoyed when they call her that.
"Make sure you're perfect before criticising anyone else!" I snap. They snigger.
"Anyway, better be going. Have fun playing at the park you bunch of babies!" They say as they head off.
"Thank goodness they've gone," Katie says as they're round the corner. "They're just @&£*%." I laugh at the very rude name Katie has called them.
"Can we go back home now? I'm freezing."
"Sure." She says as she helps me up. My leg gets caught on something and I fall into her. Thank god she was there.
"Close one!"
"Katie, I don't mean to mention this lots but I really want Arran to like me. What should I do to get him to like me?"
"Jenny, I really don't see what you see in him. Don't take this in the wrong way, but I don't think you should change for a boy. If he only likes you when you've changed then he's not worth it!"
"I know, but I just really like him." I say, annoyed.
"Well, I guess it's you're choice. What kind of film are you thinking we should watch tonight?" She asks, changing the subject.
"Well, I've never seen The Fault In Our Stars. I know you've watched it. Is it good?"
"Oh, it's amazing! Sad though. But yeah, sure we can watch it. We can stop by the shop to pick up some sweets if you want?"
"Alright then, but we better be quick."

"What do you prefer, skittles or m&ms?"
"M&ms please."
"Hey, did you know about the school talent show coming up?"
"No? When?"
"Two weeks on Thursday." We should do a duet like last time!"
"Katie, I fainted of nerves last time. How am I going to be able to do it? Think about it, I will only be 4 days back at school, and I'm in crutches."
"Suppose. Ok then, I'll go and pay." She walks up to the counter with m&ms and caramel nibbles. She comes back and passes me the change.

⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️⚫️

I hear the noise as Katie switches on her TV. The caramel nibbles are already half gone. She sits back and grabs the remote and begins to flick to Netflix.
"Do you know what we should do? A makeover."
"You know I don't know anything about makeup!"
"Exactly. If I teach you a but then that might make you look better for Arran." She says with a hopeful face. Katie's a makeup freak. Ok, that's a bit of an exaggeration. She isn't as bad as Skye. Skye clarts herself in it. But Katie does know quite a bit about it.
"Alright then. You've got me convinced."
"Yes. If we do it now then we can watch the film later?"
"Ok,' I groan.

"Ok. So this is mascara. You put it on your eyelashes. And you put eyeshadow on your eyelid." She states sarcastically.
"I'm not that stupid. I just need to know how to put it on!"
"I know, I know."
She shows me carefully how to apply all the different kinds of makeup. It's quite boring, to be honest but I don't say that to her. She seems to be enjoying herself, so I try to seem interested.
"What makeup do you wear to school?" I ask.
"How about I show you, then I'll put it on you? Or you can try?"
Ok." She shows me how to put on all the different kinds of makeup. I don't know if I'll remember it all.
"I'll do it on you know."
She applies it to my face. It feels weird, I'm not used to it. When she's done, I look at the finished image in the mirror. I actually don't look too bad. "Gorgeous!" Katie says.
We then settle down for TFIOS. We open all the sweets that we bought earlier. I'm sitting on the couch with my leg up. Now that I've forgotten about it, the pain is easing off.

We've just finished TFIOS. It was really good, but we were both in tears. Then I remember I have to go back home. It's 10:00, and it's pretty dark. Just like she was reading my mind, Katie asks if I wanted to stay the night. She says I could just sleep in the extra bed and borrow her pjs. I quickly text mum, asking. I get a reply.
"I'm allowed!" I tell Katie.
"That's good!"
We spend the rest of the night mainly chatting. We finally switch off the light and go to sleep around 3am. I fall asleep easily.

I wake up and look over at Katie's clock. It's 11:30! I'm meant to be home by now. Katie doesn't wake up until I'm dressed, which took me a lot of struggle with the crutches.
"Why you up so early?" She mumbles.
"It's half eleven, I'm meant to be home by now!"
"Is it?"she grumbles as she plonks her head back down on the pillow. I go through to the bathroom to brush my teeth, then gather my stuff up. Katie finally gets up, still half asleep.
"I should probably be going now," I tell Katie.
"You've only just got up!"
"True, but I am 25 minutes late."
"Ok. Well, I'll see you another time."
"Bye, thank you!"
"Bye,"
I walk back to my house which takes double the time that it normally would, seeing as I'm on these cursed crutches. I get home later and do nothing for the rest of the day.

Hope you liked it! Sorry if it's not that good or not that long, and I'll try to update more. But hope you liked it!
