At five-thirty that evening Klaus got out of his car and adjusted his tie before walking up the front walk of the Forbes house. He fiddled with his tie once more before knocking on the door. He saw the police cruiser outside, and knew that the sheriff was home for the night. He knew he should have asked if she wanted to go out for dinner with him tonight since things had been progressing quite nicely lately, but he wanted to surprise her. He hoped it was a good surprise and that she wouldn't turn him down. A little bit after he knocked on the door, Sheriff Forbes answered it with a polite smile on her face.

"Klaus Mikealson, what can I do for you?" She asked.

"Is Caroline here?" He asked and she nodded.

"Yes, she is. Just a moment. Would you like to step inside?" She asked. Klaus nodded and stepped through the open door as Sheriff Forbes went off in search of her daughter. A couple of minutes Caroline emerged dressed in jeans and a pink blouse.

"Klaus what are you doing here, and why are you so dressed up?" She asked him surprised to see him standing in front of her in her house.

"I came by to ask if you would like to join me for dinner?" He asked her hopefully.

"Well I have no other plans tonight, so why not." She answered grinning.

"Not that you don't look beautiful as it is, but you should dress up a little bit. I booked us a nice table at that French restaurant you've been talking about all week." Klaus told her and she squealed excitedly.

"How?" She asked her blue eyes wide and excited.

"My dad is friends with the owners. It was quite easy to get us a table for the evening." He said brushing it aside like it was nothing.

"What should I wear?" She asked smiling at him.

"Whatever you like. You'll look beautiful no matter what." Klaus said.

"Alright, I won't be long. Make yourself at home." Caroline said and Klaus went to sit down on the couch as Caroline practically skipped down the hall to her room.

"So you're dating my daughter?" Sheriff Forbes asked when she came out of the kitchen.

"We haven't identified it yet. I really like her and I finally feel like she's starting to like me too. Damon and Elena would like nothing more than for us to be together." Klaus told her.

"So how is Elena doing anyways? Caroline doesn't really talk to me much. She's in the mindset that talking to your mom and dad about your friends personal lives is not cool." The sheriff said.

"She's doing fine. She beat the hell out of Mason Lockwood today at school. It was great. I wouldn't know much about the actual pregnancy but it seems like shes doing well." Klaus told her as much as he could.

"Why did she beat up Mason Lockwood?" Liz asked curiously.

"He was apparently running his mouth about something that offended her. Believe me when I say that he most definitely deserved it." Klaus promised.

"He probably did. I have known Elena Gilbert since she was playing in the sandbox with Caroline. There is no way she would beat the hell out of some guy for no reason." Liz said nodding her head.
