SHOTO'S BREATH HITCHED WHEN HE SAW YOU WALK INTO THE 3A'S COMMON AREA. your skirt was a bit shorter than what you normally wore and your thigh highs hugged your legs perfectly. he wasn't used to the flutter of his heart and the growing warmth in his chest, but he'd seen enough movies to know what it meant. the only issue was that after your little 'date' yesterday, he was almost completely sure his feelings were unrequited.

after your fight with bakugou, he thought he could finally confess his feelings to you. you did say there was no way you ever like the ash blond after what happened. so he'd practiced telling you how the sound of your voice gives him butterflies and your smile makes his heart skip a beat. though a few minutes into the 'date', he decided against it. cause you apparently did not think, or know that it was a date.

quite the opposite actually. all you could talk about was bakugou this and bakugou that. you were overthinking your argument and asking shoto for advice THE WHOLE TIME.

the dual haired boy wasn't sure what to do other than to force a small smile and ignore the sharp pain growing in his stomach and shooting up his chest that was slowly choking the air out of his lungs.

he wasn't sure why he asked you to come to the party tonight. though there was a part of him wanting, no needing to tell you how he felt. that same part must've gotten control of his mouth when he opened it and invited you.

your eyes searched the crowd before landing on shoto's face. a sweet smile immediately grew on your lips as you walked over to him. "hey sho. sorry i'm a bit late."

he forced a smile once again, similar to the one he wore yesterday, and handed you your favorite drink "hey."

"thanks." you took a generous sip before leaning your hips against the counter. "so many people here tonight. i totally get why you asked me to come. i wouldn't wanna be alone in this crowd either."

"actually i-"

"oh, and by the way. thank you so much for going out with me yesterday. i really needed to get everything off my chest. you're an amazing friend, sho." you gave him a bright smile.

there it was. that word. the word that arose conflicting emotions in shoto's chest. it felt like an arrow pierced through his heart and left from the other side, leaving an empty hole in its place. yet there was a sense of reassurance in knowing how much you relied on him. as if just knowing you was a privilege and he was being greedy for wanting more.

"earth to shoto." you waved your hand in front of the zoned out boy's face "you okay there?"

todoroki shook his head to forget that word and stop his spiraling thoughts "sorry about that. and yes. i'm always here for you, y/n."
