March 3rd, Sucrè D'orge, 10.45am.
"Mothalallii"
That earned Dheena a glare.
"Seri.. annan", Dheena changed his tone, as they all sat at the round table, "Staff meeting'ndra per la nala sapuda than vekuringa," he looked down at the slice of blackcurrant cheesecake. All the staff were asked to choose what they wanted of the pantry, because well..They deserved it. And because it was Saturday.
"Pravalla, thappu illa," Kathir bent back down at the screen of his laptop.
"Intha maari manasu yaaruku varum..," Dheena faked cried, Mani hid a smile and Janani rolled her eyes, the rest sniggered. Kathir was unperturbed.
"Romba feel panatha da, athulam innum sapudara condition la iruka nu pakka than, test panra, Yenna jenani, last week thane pannathu?", he asked her nonchalantly, Janani giggled and nodded, as she looked at Dheena's face fixed in horror the spoonful in mid air. The whole table sniggered, Kathir smirked.
"Ithu thevaya unnaku?', Mani laughed, Dheena spoon was in mid air now unsure, if he could take a bite or not. Kathir shoved the spoon into his mouth and said, "Sapudu raja, etha nadantha pathukalam", Dheena, looked terrified as he muffled down the cheesecake, clutching his throat. "Kolakara kumbal oda sagavasam vetchi irukome..", he murmured.
"Seri, everything is in order, ana ellarum, paper waste pathu pathu konga pa. And also I've ordered metal straws, 10 rs extra vangitu, the customer can take it home. Okay? Seri open the kitchen," he said, clapping his hands together, the table dispersed.
Mani took his apron and headed to the counter pushed the door of the personnel. Jenani stood up to follow when Mani burst back into the cabin, almost squashing the poor girl in the process, "Eh sorry sorry," he said to her squeak, "Annan annae! atha ponnu vanthu iruku", Mani lunged at Kathir,
Kathir was eyebrows wriggled in confusion, "Entha ponnu da?" he asked, making Mani 'tch' impatiently, "Athan ne, oru masam munna- athan whistle party ah left and right vangu nangale", He said, Dheena was jumped to sneak a peek at her.
There was a swooping sensation in his stomach that Kathir did not like. That's when you know you're in trouble. That swooping was... excitement. He tried to not smile, but his lips didn't really want to listen to him, "Seri irukatum... po da poi vellaiya gavani..", he heard him say, but his heart was not into it. He aimlessly looked back to the pixelated white screen of his laptop...
'She was just another customer...' He had told himself.
And she was. Just another customer. Okay. A beautiful customer. He had seen far beautiful girls than her come to the cafe...
'But has your leg started shooting stars making you want to jump to catch a glimpse of them?' He found himself wondering, No. Not particularly. Of course, there had been said 'beautiful' girls who looked at him, and vice versa. But none evoked the swooping sensation he felt now. And he knew why..
The dynamite in red top was more than just beautiful. She was brave, and kind... and honourable.. she had her morals right he could tell from the way she had treated his staff. All these made him... made him..
"Eh yaaru red top'uh?", he heard Janani asking , Mani and Dheena, pushed the doors of the cabin reciting what had happened last time she was here. Kathir gave the swinging door a look of longing..
