You stood by the front door of Bakugou's apartment, waiting patiently for the angry blond to ready himself for the night while you swayed on your heels. This whole week leading up to this night was an interesting turn of events when out of the blue Katsuki Bakugou asked for you to be his plus one to his school reunion. Excitement surged through your body when he had asked, learning from him that the theme was Prom Night, which he unwillingly explained was a cop out in his opinion.
But to you, it brought back memories of his graduation, you remembered what you wore, how the both of you danced the night away, and sadly, but bittersweetly, how it was the day he and you officially put a label on this relationship.
You had followed his instructions to a tee, dressed appropriately for the theme and arrived at his on time. Still you had been waiting for the past ten minutes wondering what was going on. The thought had crossed your mind to call out to him, ask if he was okay, even going so far to wonder if he suddenly had cold feet only to realize this was Bakugou you were thinking about. After a minute or two, you opened your mouth to utter his name only to hear a muffled and frustrated yell coming from his bathroom.
"God fucking dammit!"
You recoiled from the yell, only finding silence back in the apartment again, eerily quiet from the aftermath of such a frustrated exclamation.
"Um... Katsuki?" you called wary. "Everything okay?"
Heavy footfalls exited from the bathroom before you laid your eyes on a strapping fellow in a tight waistcoat that formed over his defined body structure. You knew Bakugou cleaned up nicely on the few dates you and he could ever organize, but to see him formally dressed for a night out hit very differently. What made this image of him comical was his unimpressed scowl, sparks flaring in one hand, and a loose tie in the other.
"Having trouble with your tie?" you asked while trying to keep your smile and chuckles at bay.
Bakugou growled with distaste, staring at the black tie in hand. He didn't need to answer for you to understand his annoyance at the accessory. You shook your head and slowly took the tie from his large hand, immediately wrapping it around his neck and began to tie it for him.
"You know, you could've just asked," you spoke while he looked away from you.
"It's not your problem," he merely replied with that scowl.
You peered up at him while you almost fitted the tie to his person. There was a slight embarrassment in his look, something you've not witnessed often, and in a way, it vexed him.
"Your problems are my problems," you reiterated, slipping the knot of the tie comfortably on his collar. "That's what a relationship is, besides I wouldn't judge you for not knowing how to tie a tie."
A low grunt escaped from Bakugou before he rubbed the back of his neck, that embarrassment still harbouring in his mind. "It's not that," he reiterated. "I remembered one time I got so frustrated that I... destroyed the tie."
Chuckles
"Will you stop laughing?!"
"I'm sorry," you apologized while you still stifled the bouts of laughter that bubbled in your throat. "I wouldn't expect anything less from you." The sight of seeing a vexed Bakugou over a tie was absolute gold in your mind. You wondered how long ago that event had happened in his life irregardless of his age and station.
Bakugou on the other hand couldn't help but smile at your attempts to stop laughing at his tribulations. Despite any embarrassment he would suffer, seeing you smile felt more important than anything else. He placed his hand on your head before he pulled you into a hug, halting your laughing fit but also satiating his need to hold you.
