Kai's POV
It sure is good to be back, it was always so beautiful here.

I smile as I pat Zane on the shoulder he's gotten so tall, I probably look like an ant standing next to an elephant. I chuckle at the thought and he looks at me with a curious expression.

"Its nothing, I'm just glad to see you" I say, speaking of which.....where is that warmonger of a brother?
"Mason.."
I hear a loud groan behind me as I see my short tempered brother approaching me in my peripheral vision.

"We should go" I said curtly turning my head to face him

"Sure" he muttered while opening my car door and taking a seat inside.

I whipped my head around to find Zane staring at me with wide eyes.
"Where the hell are you going man you just got here?!"

I chuckled rasing my hands in surrender
"I have to head home right now Zane but you and Elliot will see me tomorrow, I am going to this school now" I said waving and walking simultaneously trying to hurry into the car before Zane has a chance to do anything crazy. That is if he is still as extreme and over-the-top as I remember.

"What was going on between you and Zane, Mason?" I asked him upon entering the car.

"Nothing.." Mason said
I grunted, shut the door and sped off down the road.

"I thought you guys would be over the petty arguments by now, I mean its eight years later man."

"Trust me Kai, he's still as immature as when you left"

I take a deep breath and I instinctively tighten my grip on the steering wheel. Mason sighs audibly, as he looks out the window. He knows how much I hate it when he and Zane gets into it.

"Mason.." I sigh calming myself
"I didn't come back here to see my brother and my bestfriend fighting"

"We weren't fighting yet." He said with a smug smile and I roll my eyes again

"Mom told me to pick you up because you wrecked your car and I had to drive all over town looking for you."

"Dude he's just irritating" Mason grumbles folding his arms and I roll my eyes
"I know that he is your friend but I just can't stand him, never have and never will. I still don't know why you're friends with a guy like him." he replies shrinking into his seat and we stay silent for another fifteen minutes.
"I still don't get why you can't just come to my school"

"Mason your school isn't ideal for my career path, you know that. How many kids get into ivy league colleges from Cumbria High" I roll my eyes in annoyance
"Plus I won't have to see you bullying kids again and getting myself into meaningless fights over stupid things.....you've done." I point my index finger at his forehead never once looking away from the road. He grumbles and folds his hands and I return mine to the steering wheel.

It was around four when we pulled into the driveway, I exited the car and started walking into the house with Mason. I opened the door and the familiar scent of roasted chicken attacks my nostrils and my wolf Cyprus howls with excitement and a low chuckle escapes me. I hardly hear from Cy he's also quiet, Mason heads upstairs and I make my way to the kitchen where I see the back of the most beautiful woman alive.

"Hey mom" I give her a hug

"Kai Kai!" Her smile literally lights up the room she looks the same as when I left. Her ginger hair tied into bun at the top, it is it's favourite place after all its been in that position for as long I as I can remember. She radiates a warmth that is infectious and wonderful to behold.
"Have you started unpacking? Those draws aren't going to fill themselves."

"I will get started right away mom." I sprint upstairs and start ripping my suitcases open. I pack my things away neatly, admiring how precisely I've folded my my t-shirts. Just then Mason bursts into my room.

"Food's ready" he yelled then left and I followed, the dinner table is set and the food smells amazing. I lick my lips and sit next to Mason and mom sits facing me.

"Let's dig in" mom says and we immediately start chowing down. Wow this meat is tasty, I scarf down my fried rice and suddenly feel like I'm being watched. I slowly glance up to see the both of them staring at me, I guess that's expected given the fact that I was never much of an eater.
"Slow down road runner" she said laughing

"I missed your cooking mom" I said wiping my mouth

"What did they not have anything other than nuts and berries in the woods." Mason says, I turn my head so slowly time seemed to have actually slowed down. A terrible memory floods my mind and my hands ball up into fists. I force the memory away as quick as it came, I took a calming breath disappointed in his predictability. Ever since we were kids whenever we are alone he was harmless but the moment there is just one other person he acts like an idiot. I thought he had grown out of this awful trait.

"Mason..." mom says in serious tone

" I was just joking mom, jeez" he holds his hands up in defence, I roll my eyes for the umpteenth time today because of him and start to use my fork to play with the chicken in my plate. I glimpse my mom flashing Mason a dirty look as she she turns her attention to me.

"So honey, how was it?" Her eager eyes peering at me

"It was OK, different but necessary" I take another bite of my meal
"It wasn't as bad as you might think." After fifteen minutes we were all done, I spring from my chair to do my regular cleaning up duties when mom grabs my shoulder.

"I need to talk to you Mason can clean up, come" Mason immediately starts grumbling but I'm too caught up in where my mom and I are going to even care. She walks up the stairs to her bedroom, I enter and she shuts the door behind me.
"Have a seat" she said patting the space next to her on the bed, then she took a deep audible breath. Her hands were trembling, I could tell she was nervous.
"Kai about what happened before you left..." She took another deep breath, then the words began rushing from her mouth and tears were cascading down her rosy cheeks.
"I'm so sorry I... should've done better I should've protected.....I" I encase her body with mine

"It's okay mom, I don't blame you for what happened." She starts sobbing audibly
"So please don't blame yourself." I slowly released her and smiled at her
"Its fine mom" I slowly got off the bed
"Now stop all this crying okay, I gotta go finish unpacking" I said then left the room as I close the door I inhale deeply closing my eyes. It wasn't her fault and I really don't blame her, she was just as scared as the rest of us if not more. I open the door to my room and strip myself down, I make my way to the bathroom. I throw my clothes into the hamper and a take quick shower. I step out of the shower soaking wet then I use my hand to wipe the foggy mirror. I study my wet body my black head of hair and delicate features, I let my eyes travel down my bare toned chest and past my V line to a neatly groomed ginger coloured pubic bush. I go back up to look into my own eyes, my tattoos were a huge contrast to my deathly pale skin. However they were necessary my eyes travel each of them and my eyes tear up at the memories hidden beneath the ink. Shaking the thoughts from my head I dry myself and crawl underneath the covers nude, the best way to sleep I thought as I felt sleep overtake me.
