"Hey, (Y/N). Can we talk? About— about our relationship?"
(Y/N) steps up to him. She looks around them awkwardly. "Er— yeah. Sure. What's up?"
Theo awkwardly looks down at his feet, shifting his weight between his toes and his heels. "First, I want to say, you're a great person and I'm very lucky to have spent the past few months with you."
She furrows her brows. "Okay..." She looks at the door and the staircases, looking for an escape. "Thank you?"
"I also want to say, I'm very sorry." He looks at her, straight in the eyes.
She could feel her heartbeat quicken slightly. Where was he going with this? She laughs nervously. "I can't forgive you if I don't know what you've done, Theo."
"Right."
They stay silent for a few seconds.
"Mhm."
"I'm just going to say it." He takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly.
She waits a bit for him to say something. He looks as if he's contemplating if he's doing the right thing.
"I'm gay."
Her eyes widen slightly. It takes a while, but slowly, she nods. "Alright."
He stares at her. "Yeah?"
She nods again. "I mean, I don't really know how to respond, if I'm being completely honest."
He nods sharply. "That makes sense. I wouldn't know how to respond, either."
She looks back and forth between the stairs and Theo. She really wants to leave. It's gotten a bit awkward. "So...is that why we weren't ever actually in a relationship?"
He says nothing, but the look on his face shows that she's right. (Y/N) nods.
"That's not even the biggest part of it." He looks away. "I was kind of— er— 'using' you. For a crush."
She doesn't hestitate. "Terry Boot?"
"Yeah. How'd you—"
"Every time he talks to you, you react in a way that makes it so obvious." She chuckles, watching his face turn red. "Especially at Madam Puddifoot's."
His nose scrunches up as he tries to stop blushing. "Was I really that obvious?"
(Y/N) laughs, nodding. Theo groans and crosses his arms across his chest.
They fall into silence. (Y/N) breaks the silence by saying, "Well, I guess this is sort of a good thing." She glances down at her hands. She was pressing her nails into the tips of her fingers. "I assume you already know about my small crush on Hermione." She looks back up at him. "You mentioned it when we first met."
Theo nods. "It was so obvious."
She hits his elbow. "It was not."
He smirks. "Sure."
"Theo—"
He puts his finger in front of her face to silence her.
"Anyways," she glares at him, "I think that I need to actually listen to your advice. You told me that ignoring the feelings will just make it worse."
"And that's exactly what you've been doing, isn't it?" He puts his finger down and looks at her teasingly.
She ignores him. "So, I think that I'm going to do something about it. Being in a 'relationship' with you didn't make my crush on her go away— no offense."
