When we arrived at his house, he had bodyguards and men in suits patrolling the grounds. His property was quite far from where I worked, but Eric said he would drive me to work from now on until we got married. I haven't made any objections to this marriage yet, but I know that it will be happening soon. After getting out of his vehicle, I was greeted by staff and personnel, who took my luggage to the room I was going to be staying in. His father came out and greeted me. Eric told me he had discussed this marriage with his father, and really, he had no disagreements with it. His mother on the other hand, wasn't quite sure I was in the relationship for her son's best interests. That reminded me that I should probably get into contact with my parents as well, at least to let them know of the wedding.
"I have already informed your parents of the wedding a couple days ago, minus the information about my ex. They actually got here this morning." Eric has surprised me in more ways than one the whole time I have been with him. I honestly do not know what I have gotten myself into, but I have nothing really to say about it.
"Anna! Darling! Why didn't you tell me about Eric here!" My mother's voice could be heard from across the property. My father was following right behind her, looking around at all the fortunes I have 'stumbled' upon with this relationship. I bet if Eric introduced himself honestly and mentioned marriage, my father would agree in a heartbeat, which is probably what happened. My mother, sadly, is the same. My mother gave me a tight hug and started rambling on about wedding decorations and the dress I should wear. Before I knew it, I was being dragged off away from Eric. He just smiled at me and went to talk to his father.
The next week happened so fast. Eric and I started to get back into our usual conversation, and we actually started planning wedding arrangements like a real couple. He chose the decorations, under my supervision, and he let me choose the theme and date. Of course, the date was the following week, but Eric had given me almost free reign of wedding planning. The day that was listed in the threat came, and Eric had extra bodyguards around me. He even managed to get me out of work today as well. Nothing happened at all. Nobody had noticed me getting out of Eric's car at work, either. Sandra had been busy with clients all week, so she barely got the chance to check up on me at lunch. Eric even picked me up from work for lunch and drove me to fancy restaurants to eat expensive foods. I don't really like the extravagant lifestyle, but I appreciate what he is doing for me. Three weeks passed in pure peace, which I enjoyed the most. It gave me time to appreciate the time Eric spent with me, and even feel what it was like to date Eric Brooke, not that it was bad or anything.
On the day of the wedding, the guests arrived, and I was feeling very nervous. What if Eric's ex ruins our wedding? Or worse, she comes to the wedding. After all, it is courtesy to invite his father's business partners to the wedding. I peeked out of the window of the room I was getting ready in, and saw Eric greeting several different businessmen outside at the venue. I started to feel very nervous, even nauseous at the thought of getting married. I didn't know this much anxiety comes with getting married. Eric was basically the man of my dreams, if you think about it. He is attractive, kind, bearable, and a successful person overall. I peaked out of the window again and gasped.
"He invited the whole company?" I was amazed as I saw all of my coworkers and Sandra walking up into the venue, taking all kinds of pictures. I don't think she knows I am marrying Eric at all. I remember she messaged me several times throughout this month, asking to go out and that I haven't been at work much. I told her I couldn't go to the wedding, but to take lots of pictures for me, so this is a huge surprise for her. I wanted to keep something of my life a mystery to others, even Sandra. I sat back down in front of the mirror and looked at myself again, how the white beads on my gown matched so perfectly with my skin tone, and I almost cried. I wanted to save tears for after the wedding. My stomach was so raveled up that I wanted to throw up, but the wedding was about to start. I got a message from Sandra. 'This place is huge OMG I have never seen how handsome Eric Brooke really is. OMG he is so lucky. Wish you were here!' Attached were several photos of the venue, the house, and Eric greeting guests. I heard a knock on my door.
"It's time." It was my father. He held my hand down the stairs out of the house behind a curtain masking me away from the guests and Eric. The music started to play and then I entered the venue, with my father walking me down the aisle. All I could hear was Sandra gasping so loud, I knew I was going to hear about it. All I could do was snicker and glance at her to see her jaw drop. I looked back up to see Eric at the altar. His complexion was so beautiful in the light, I could even see his eyes watering. Seeing him like this made me want to cry, but I tried my best to keep them away. Once I got to the alter, I lost it. At least, the tears streamed down my face while I managed to let out my vows. Eric also shed a few tears but was able to control them much better than me. When the ceremony ended, Eric and I kissed and linked arms together as the priest declared us husband and wife. Everyone got up and clapped, some cheered, and I could see Sandra crying like a baby. Who would have thought that I would settle down before her?
A gunshot was fired. Everybody screamed and got down. Across the end of the aisle was Eric's ex-girlfriend holding up a gun in the air. Her father immediately recognized her and tried to calm her down, but she aimed the gun at me. Eric jumped in front of me, trying to shield the bullet away, but the venue was now filled with terror.
"I warned you, bitch! You didn't listen." She looked deranged. "Just because you got away from me twice doesn't mean you will fool me a third time!" She had her finger on the trigger, waiting to let one out.
"I told you it was over a long time ago! It's time you move on and leave her out of it!" Eric yelled across the venue, trying to keep her attention. In the background his bodyguards were creeping in the background.
"Why can't you be mine, Eric! Why does it have to be her of all people!" She was crying now, but her finger was still on the trigger. She let out an outrageous cry and pulled the trigger. Two shots were heard. I closed my eyes at the sound of gunshots, but when I opened them she was down on the ground. I sighed at the relief that she was no longer a threat. I looked for Eric, but he was on the ground, blood coming out of his chest.
"Eric!" I cried. I was knelt over him, tears flowing uncontrollably from my eyes, no longer looking like a bride. He looked at me and mouthed something. 'I love you.' That was all I saw when he fell unconscious. I screamed and cried, trying to keep the blood from coming out of his wound. He was rushed off into the hospital with me following behind. I was so scared to lose Eric, after everything that I had gone through with him. Once we arrived at the hospital, his parents, as well as mine, were waiting with me outside of the emergency operating room. I was crying and pacing back and forth. My mother tried to console me, but that was no use. I guess my crying convinced his mother that I actually cared for him, and she came to try and console me. I tried to speak, but my tears and chokes made them come out as nonsense. When I finally caught a break from the chokes, I began to get lightheaded. Before I could finally say something, the room went dark.
