with our time away totalling at 3 days so far, i figured we would want to go soon, but myla had gotten so comfortable in her new persona and seemed so much happier. probably because this new person she had taken over had no backstory, no preexisting problems and no family.
i wanted to get home, check on my ma, catch up on my studies, but at the same time i didn't want to say to myla in case she wanted to stay. that's why when her father called i was eternally grateful, he called to say something had happened and he didn't want to go into much detail but she needed to come home. he apologised profusely and sounded upset through his old gravelly phone or what you could make out of it.
myla huffed and puffed in the passenger seat as we drove back towards the town we didn't like nor did we want to call home.
