Jayden's p.o.v.

-right before their date-

I was super nervous about what Allanah's family and I planned for her. I was worried that she would hate everything and push me away. Detroit noticed my nervousness since I was biting my nails, a habit I've had since I was a child, and sits next to me.

"Hey, you need to relax. Everything is going to be fine and she is going to love everything you've planned for her." He pulls my hand away from my mouth and rubs my back to comfort me, which didn't help much but I appreciated the gesture. A few minutes later I walk into our room and go to gently wake her up but her but thankfully the smell of the food wakes her up. My nervousness fades away quickly as I see her beautiful smile that I've fallen in love with spread across her face.

After a short conversation between her and her father she walks into her bathroom and all of them leave except me. I go to sit at her desk and wait for her to come out. After breakfast and getting dressed I lead her down a path that her father told me about. This would be our first date and I wanted to make this as special as I can for her. Eventually we reach the boat and I rest with her in my arms. While we float down the river, we come close to a tree branch and I make eye contact with a frog. I silently stare at it, never noticing a creature like this before. After a minute we start to float away and before we pass, the frog ribbits and jumps at me. Which unfortunately for me,  it causes me to scream like a child and rock the boat, making both of us to flip out of the boat.

"AWAY AWAY AWAY AWAY!!!!!!" I scream as I try to get away from the frog although in my panic, I didn't notice it sitting on a rock on the shore. Allanah gasps as the cold water surrounds us and she grabs my shoulder, which instantly calms me. I take a few deep breaths before looking at her. She smiles at me, reassuring me that everything was okay before laughing at how I screamed.

"Hahahaha did you hear how you screamed! It was absolutely hilarious!" She smiles at me and I let out a sigh of relief, glad that she isn't mad at me for knocking the boat over. To be fair, she is scared of spiders and has no room to talk about my fear of small animals I don't know about. I lowly chuckle before splashing water in her face. She immediately stops giggling and a glare sets on her face, which makes me laugh. Rolling her eyes, she splashes me back which causes a water fight between me and her, which causes our laughs to echo throughout the forest.

After a few minutes I gently grab her wrists and pull her close to my chest, looking down at her with a smile on my face. She smiles at me before slowly leaning in and pressing her lips against mine. I freeze for a moment but relax when she wraps her arms around my neck. The kiss lasts for a few seconds before I pull away and rest my forehead against hers. I shyly smile down at her and she smiles back. We stare at each other for a few more moments before she speaks up.

"We should probably get out of this water and get home before someone comes looking for us.. it's gonna get dark soon." She quietly whispers as I look up at the sky and I nod in agreeance. I go over to grab the boat and flip back over. I help her get back in first before I hop in and start to row us back to the original path. On our way back to the shore, shivers from the cold air run up my spine and I sneeze a few times. Allanah looks over at me with concern shining in her eyes.

"Are you feeling okay? You don't feel sick or anything do you?" She questions and places her hand on my knee. A slight blush covers my cheeks from her affections and I shake my head no, avoiding eye contact with her. She looks like she doesn't believe me but nods and sits back to watch the scenery. I feel bad for lying to her, but I don't want her to worry about me anymore. Anyways, I'm sure everything is fine...hopefully.

-Time skip to the next morning-

I woke up the next morning feeling terrible. I'm cold and hot at the same time, which I didn't even know that could happen. My nose is running like crazy and I feel like I need to throw up. I quietly groan, knowing that I have horrible nightmares when I get sick. I get up, careful not to bother Allanah as I trudge over to her desk to grab a water bottle. I was hoping it would cool me down and help my nausea.

It didn't. It actually made me feel worse.

A few minutes after drinking the water, bile builds up in my stomach and I run to the bathroom and lock the door. I lean over the toilet, hoping it was cleaned recently as I release all the food I had eaten yesterday. After I finish, I lean against the bathtub with sweat dripping as a knock at the door. My eyes widen when I hear Allanah call my name and I hurry to get off the ground and wipe my face before opening the door. Her tired eyes meet with mine and I do my best to smile at her, which makes her frown. She puts her hand up to my forehead and pulls back quickly.

"Oh my gosh you're burning up! You need to lay down now Jay." She grabs my wrist and pulls me towards the bed, in which I have no choice but to follow. She gently pushes me down on the bed and pulls the blankets up to my chest.

"You probably caught a cold from being in the water too long. I'm fine because my immune system is strong but you babe, your immune system is the equivalent to a pup." I slightly pout as a chuckle leaves her mouth and she kisses my cheek. If I wasn't so tired, I know that I would be blushing right now.

"I'm gonna go get you some medicine and some food to eat okay? It's gonna take a few hours but since it's a remedy I have to make but I want you to sleep while I'm gone okay?" She says and I nod my head, even though I knew I was going to stay awake for as long as I could. I didn't want to face the nightmares that I knew were going to happen while I slept. She smiles at me and kisses my head one last time before leaving the room. I shiver at the darkness of the room as I bury my face into the pillow, pinching myself when I start to fall asleep and hoping Allanah comes back soon.
