If only I had known that the worst trouble would come to my life that night, I might not have gone to the club with Lauren.
Interviewer: Who's that 'Trouble' ?
I looked at the Interviewer and smiled.
"Him."
"Get in the car, Miss. Ayokong hilahin ka pa, makasay ka lang."
I froze for a second, a little surprised and shocked by how bluntly he said that. His words hung in the air, almost challenging me. Should I really get into his fancy, gorgeous car? I mean, it's a Porsche, for crying out loud. What if this is all a setup? But then again, he didn't seem like the type to cause trouble... right?
Hmm... Was I being too cautious? My gut was telling me to trust him, but there was this nagging feeling in the back of my mind. Should I take the chance or just walk away?
I glanced at the car again, its sleek curves almost begging me to step inside. It would be so easy, wouldn't it? One simple decision could change everything.
But then again... Was it worth the risk?
Okay, I guess it's fine lang naman na sumakay sa car ng stranger... right?
I dashed over to his car, opened the door, and slid into the passenger seat.
Wala na akong choice! I don't even know how to commute! Kaya sa ayaw ko o sa hindi sasakay ako sa kotse niya.
I didn't say much after getting into his car. I just sat there quietly, even scratching my neck awkwardly, trying not to look too out of place.
The moment he started driving, we sped off so quickly it felt like all the other cars were standing still. His fast, confident driving made my stomach flip, and I couldn't tell if it was the motion or the nerves making me feel a little dizzy. Either way, I clung to my seatbelt like my life depended on it.
"Where do you—?"
He was about to ask me, but since I'm obviously a genius, I already knew what he was going to say. So, I cut him off before he could even finish.
"Yeah, my friend lives there," he replied swiftly, his focus returning to the road as if this was the most casual conversation ever.
"What's his name?" I asked, my curiosity getting the better of me. I mean, what if we lived in the same building? Instant potential for neighbor BFFs. That would be cute, 'di ba?
"Her, babae siya," he clarified, a hint of amusement in his tone.
Oh, so he has female buddies, too? Well, honestly, I'm not even surprised. A guy like him, polished, kind (in his own weird way) can probably be friends with anyone. It's no big deal... except now I kinda want to know what she's like.
