I cried because of this dream.

My POV

I woke up disoriented. My head was spinning and I felt like I was in a rollercoaster but with no seatbelts, nor seats. I rubbed at my eyes, trying to wake myself up a little more, before opening my eyes to a slightly dark room. It kinda reminded me of those bunkers in movies.

I turned to my left to see more of the room, and saw a little boy sitting criss cross next to me, staring at me with innocent eyes. He must be 7, 8 or 9 years old.

He tilted his head as we kept staring at each other without saying a word. "Are you alright?" He asked me, and I blinked out my daze.

"I'm fine." I answered dryly, my voice hoarse from lack of use. I coughed a bit to clear it, before repeating my answer. "I'm fine."

He brightened at that. "Good!"

I sat up, and I suddenly felt a shiver go through my whole body, which made me realize not only how cold the room was, but also the kid's clothes. He was wearing a green oversized shirt, the logo of the shirt was so faded it was almost completely gone. He had on some dark grey shorts, and a pair of dirty socks. Thankfully, I was wearing long and warm pants with a shirt and hoodie, but my concern for the kid quickly made me take off the oversized piece of clothing and put it on him, voicing my concerns towards him.

"Why are you dressed like that? You could get sick! It's so cold in here!" I rambled on and on about the cold, but was stopped when he giggled and hugged me, pulling my hands into the sleeves.

"Like this, we'll both warm up! And if you ever feel too cold, you can take it if you want." He smiled brightly at me, and I couldn't help but grow even more concern. How can he be so happy in this kind of situation? Does he even understand what's happening? How long has he been in here? Why was there no news about him?

Instead of asking any of this or my other trillion questions, I smiled back at him and nodded, making him grin even bigger.

a couple hours later

Me and the little boy, which I found later on is named Kim, continued talking the more time passed. I still haven't asked how long he has been here, seeing at how happy and excited he is to have a 'roommate' and how oblivious he is to the clicking of heels outside the huge metal door.

"-and I've always loved Disney! I really want to go there, especially next week for my birthday!" He told me excitedly, his eyes shining as he talked about Disney movies and songs.

"Your birthday is next week?" I asked with a small smile. This could help me know how long he's been here.

"Yep! Next week Wednesday, so in just, uh.." He looked down at his hands and counted for a bit before looking back up with a grin. "Four days!"

I did the quick math in my head. So he thinks is Saturday? Oh Dear.

"Really? That's so soon! But, what day of the month is it? I keep losing track of dates lately." I said with a chuckle, acting oblivious to the fact that it's the 17th of July, on a Tuesday.

He gave me a playful pout. "You can't lose track of time. It's not good! How will you know when your birthday comes?" He exclaimed, making me chuckle.

"Alright, I'm sorry, I'll try to remember next time." I gave a wink with a small smile, Kim giggling at my action before trying to copy me, ending up just blinking his eyes.

"But my birthday is on the 4th of July! We're the 1st of July right now." He grinned again.

Oh boy.
