{10} birthdays and scrapbooks

*cue opening music*

It was the day after the last challenge meaning it was a free day.

I yawned and woke up getting ready for the day. I smiled and felt like I was on top of the world since today was special. It was my sixteenth birthday.

I left the bass cabin and headed to the main lodge for breakfast. I walked in to see everyone already there.

"Hey guys!" I chirped as I bounded over to my seat between Duncan and DJ.

"Good morning!" DJ said happily, ruffling my hair.

We all are our questionable breakfast and then I asked, "Anyone want to do swimming?"

Everyone shook their heads and glanced at each other making my mood drop.

"Sorry Rin, we already have plans." Bridgette said.

"Well can I join you?" I asked looking around.

"Sorry dudette." Geoff said with a sympathetic smile.

I sighed and nodded my mood already dropping.

"It's cool man. I'll just to entertain myself. I'll be back later probably." With that, I left to the Bass Cabin. I grabbed my backpack and headed for the woods to go exploring.

(Duncan's pov)

I felt terrible when I saw the look of disappointment on Rin's face. I mean, who wouldn't be upset if they ask to hang out with their friends on their birthday, and their friend said they had something better to do? I wish I could just do give her a hug and day it'll be better after we set up her party.

Wait! Why am I so concerned for her? It's not like I like her or anything. I don't like anyone. Tough guys like me don't have those kind of feelings for people.

But she's special...... Okay she's an exception but I'm not going soft.

We all spent the entire day getting the party set up. I think this is the only time all the campers were able to set aside their differences to get along for one project that was important to all of us.

Heather and Geoff made and decorated the cake.

Bridgette, LaShawna and I designed the whole party since they had interrogated Rin about her favorite things.

Everybody worked together over the past few days to make a scrapbook she could fill with pictures of this "adventure" as she would call it.

Everybody else cleaned up the main hall and decorated it with streamers and balloons Chris happily provided. He seems to have a soft spot for her.

Chef happily made actual edible pizza for the occasion.

It was hard work but we got it done right before dinner and now we all sat in the main hall, waiting for Rin to come back.

"She has been in the woods all day, do you think she's okay?" Gwen asked concerned.

I was kind of worried..... I'm still not going soft!
but there were bears out there and as much as Rin likes to think she's a strong person, we all know she couldn't hold herself against a bear.

(Rin's pov)

I spent the entire day walking around the island adventuring; and I'd found some pretty cool spots!

I saw lots of animals and plants and even made a flower crown.

But as the sun set I walked back to camp my mood dropping as it had been when I left this morning.
