"C'mon, sleepyhead!" Danielle woke up feeling like she had been caught in an earthquake: "Come see my presents!" Draco kept jumping on her bed.
"Ugh, pissssss off!" Danielle's hissing escalated into roaring as she hit the boy with her leg and he tripped over it and fell on the bed. Danielle and Draco were pulling each other's leg all the time. Sometimes, like this one, messing around would grow into a fight. Draco tugged the blanket off Danielle, and immediately threw it on her head. She was fighting back with her little fists, but, in a matter of seconds, his grip was already around her neck, not letting any air under the blanket.
"You come or die!" kept giggling Draco.
"Truce! Truce!" screamed Dani. Although, she was quite tired, she didn't feel like dying that morning.
As soon as she got from under the emerald blanket, Draco had already been standing next to her bed with his pinkie sticking out.
"Truce," they shook their pinkies, and out of the room, down the spacious stone staircase, straight to the drawing room, where Mr. Malfoy, Mrs. Malfoy and Mrs. Poesy had already been having their Earl Grey. In the middle of a room resided a pile of presents.
"What's in the big one?" Danielle's sleepy eyes lit with curiosity as he eyes caught a big box placed in the very centre.
"Let's see," rushed Draco, dragging a sleeve of Dani's pyjamas. The kids attacked the box, like lions attack a prey gazelle. Shiny silver paper had been flying around until, alas, the box was opened.
"No way..." mumbled Draco in awe and looked at Dani, then at his parents, then at the present again. A telescope. It was a tall, taller than Draco, golden telescope decorated with Vavona wood from a redwood tree. It was polished and shiny.
"That's precisely what you wanted, innit?" Dani smiled at Draco, and he nodded back with the biggest smile ever seen on his face.
"Thank you, Father. Thank you, Mother," he gave his parents a little bow.
"What did you get me?" Draco turned to Dani, and she pointed with her finger at a small box wrapped in green paper with a silver ribbon. Draco grabbed the present and immediately tore the wrapping to shreds.
"Oh, cool," a shadow of disappointment appeared on his face as he tried to be polite in front of their parents. He took out of the box an exquisite leather notebook with a silver Slytherin logo on it, and a silver lock. In addition to this, there was a silver pen to go with it.
"We thought it might be useful since you are starting school this year," smiled Mrs. Poesy supported by the sounds of appreciation from Narcissa, and approving nod from Lucius.
"Come with me to the lake later," whispered Dani: "I got something cooler for you."
Her saying that seemed to have lifted Draco's spirits well enough, and he proceeded to destroying remaining boxed wrapped in fancy paper. Yet, they did not have much time to spare just for two of them. Malfoys invited friendly families over for the celebration. Eleven is a very important age in the wizarding world.
After breakfast, the kids were escorted by their mothers to the bedrooms to be dressed properly before the guests start arriving. And Danielle's nightmare started as soon as her bedroom's door closed behind her. Mrs. Poesy started pulling out of the trunk all sorts of uncomfortable garments: doll dresses with puffy tulle skirts, lace ribbons, polished shoes with a little heel. Festive shoes were Danielle's personal most hated, the leather they were made of usually would be too stiff and rub the back of her ankle sore, and the soles would be too slippery to run in. Not less than two hours must have passed, when her mother was finally done.
