"You're improving," I commented as I looked over David' poem. He frowned slightly, starring at the paper once I handed it back to him. The poem was terrible. I knew it. He knew it. Anyone who would have read it would know it. I would have thought that he'd better at this given that he's rather smart. Oh, how wrong was I.
David sighed, crumpling the paper into a ball and throwing it in the ever so growing pile of failed projects. "You don't have to lie, Penny," he grumbled, raking his fingers through his hair. "It's shitty."
"You'll get it, I know you will!" I encouraged. If he gave up, then my plans for him would fall apart. I needed David to keep going with this.
He sighed, muttering, "I suppose." Then he began packing his things and grumbled, "It's just so difficult finding inspirations, you know?"
I smiled, nodding. This was my cue. Since I began helping him with his art credit (which was basically create something—anything—that's artistic), I noticed him becoming more and more desperate. He needed inspiration. Inspiration, however, comes in many forms.
I knew for a fact that David's inspiration comes from other people's work.
"Hold up, I have something for you!" I said excitedly as I left the living room and made a dash towards my bedroom. Taking the black book on my desk, I flipped through the contents of it, my heart breaking a little as pages of Lily's words and pictures appeared.
I'll see you in a bit, I thought, pulling the book towards my chest and holding onto it. This was Lily's. It hurt to think that I would hand it to someone who'd screwed her over. But I'll get it back. And David will get what he deserves.
"'Kay David," I sang, skipping towards him and handing him the black book. "This is just a bunch of stuff I worked on in the past." I shrugged when he looked at it skeptically, flipping through the pages and then looking at me. "It's nothing much, but this has always been my inspiration book," I said sweetly, "I'll lend it to you in hopes that it'll inspire you, too."
"Seriously?" he wondered.
I nodded. "Yeah, they're pretty outdated and I haven't opened this book since like, forever, but it might help."
