Untouchable

"My friends are kind of like a second family. I love them and keep them close to my heart."

--Lily H.

Gavin's eyes fell on mine, a dangerous glint in them. As the corner of his mouth quirked upwards, an ominous grin playing on his face, he muttered dangerously sexy on my ear, "Are you absolutely certain you want to start a war with the Verdean's little army?"

It wasn't a question.

Gavin already knew the answer but he had a bad boy complex and he likes to think that he was big, bad, and dangerous like Cole Verdean.

He definitely was.

And, let's be honest here, probably even more so.

But I had him wrapped around my fingers so his silly, little attempt to scare me was pointless. Moreover, Gavin Reeves should be the one answering to that question. He'd known and disliked Cole and his clique for a long while now and yet, he hadn't really made his move.

Until now.

I supposed it was because he really didn't have an incentive to do anything until I decided to waltz in his life and drag him with me to royally screw the enemies.  I'm not stupid enough to charge at them alone. Cole and his group of underprivileged kids had the money to back them up from whatever they wish to do to me if they ever find out. I obviously didn't want to go to hell before the plan was halfway done. So I did my research.

After getting into Ashcroft (with the help of Lily's old paintings and poetry), I learned a lot of things from the students. It seemed that once you're in, then getting every bits of information you need was just as easy as using Google to find it.

On the outside, I was the nice, quiet girl who Cole Verdean took a liking of and pulled into his group. Throughout the course of the year, I played as the shy, new friend. But inside, I was plotting with their Number One Enemy for their demise.

I was hardly scared of them.

If anything, they should be petrified of me.

Tilting my head to the side, I simply grabbed onto the collar of Gavin's shirt, pulling his face much closer to mine. This wasn't the first time our proximity was thinner than a piece of paper. And this certainly wouldn't be the last. Whatever was going on between us was purely part of the unwritten and unspoken contract he and I shared.

Gavin's face was blank but for a moment, but I didn't miss the quick flash of uneasiness in his eyes.

I almost smirked at the thought of him feeling nervous around me.

I didn't, however. I needed him on my side in this self-declared war against my sister's tormentors.

Gavin leaned a little closer and a leaned a little more.

Cue the seductive smile on Penelope Masterson's lips and the widening of Gavin Reeves's pupils. "Not if I had the big, bad wolf on my side."

He laughed lightly, the vibration on his chest against mine made me feel funny things inside. I didn't tell him that, of course. He'd have a field day if he ever found out that he was able to make me feel anything but cold, bloodthirsty need of revenge.

Smirking, Gavin tightened the grip he had on my waist and when I looked up to meet his scrutiny, all I saw was the lust behind the beautiful sea of blues. His eyes were one of the first things that I noticed about him the first time we met in a club his cousin owned. They weren't anything special of course; they were just eyes—but with Gavin, in them showed his spiraling emotions. He was easy to read if one knew how to look through his piercing gaze. As hypnotizing as they were, his inability to hide what he was feeling from me was one of his biggest disadvantages when it came to dealing with yours truly.
