Book: Future

Mrs Brown's POV

Provibia is one special child . It's true when they say the future is in your hands.

When I was growing up, I was afraid of being myself, of being kind. Afraid of standing for others. I was just afraid.

I took my books as important as drinking water daily. And I was lucky to be employed in Palm Junior High School.

The learners in my class were always outstanding and shown me all the respect I had. Not only were they learners but they were my children too, literally. I got the opportunity to study their behaviour and learn more about their weaknesses.

I called, Provibia during lunch time, it was right at the beginning of the year. I saw myself in her, she was shy, afraid, and I didn't want her to grow to be where I am and live with fear as I did all these years.

We ate lunch together. Then on weekends she would visit me. I had two homes, the one I rented in near Palm Junior High School, was small, and that's when my niece's adviced me not to wear anything special, just to pay attention into what environment am I operating In. So Provibia visited me in my other apartment where she found my niece's who were models and fashion designers sorted all together. My girls were harmless. So I left her with the girls. And in a week and two, she was smart. She already started running her own business at school. I didn't want to know what she was doing, as I didn't want to fit in my nose where it didn't belong.

She became smart in class. A genius, and you would assume she came from a wealthy family.

Provibia had no parents, and that's why I became so fond of her. It's a norm for us who grew up with no parents to be family amongst ourselves.

Provibia made enough money whilst at school to buy her own home, at the age of 17 . And she took in with her two girls who were attending cretche and hired a domestic worker to cook, clean, wash and collect the children from school and had a room in the backyard.

She was a genius by nature, she wanted to drop out of school, and I had to encourage her to stay and complete her studies, than just staying home.

School was boring her, but open seeing how others valued school, she changed her mind and stayed focus. She got mixed with a wrong crowed but she still kept her cool, that's one characteristic she had- a leader! She wanted unity among her peers .

***

After I have learned about what she has done for her classmates, that too encouraged me to teach my learners with so much passion. Each year I had one special leaner who just made my work easy to enjoy and reminded me of why I am a Teacher at Junior High School.

All the learners who I taught from Palm Junior High School, have amounted to something in life. Some still care to visit me at school and buy me clothes, lunch and also offer scholarships and bursaries to those who are in need.

I am a proud teacher.

My works are recognised.
