secrets or lies: a johannie story

five.

annie's pov:
i pulled up to my house around seven thirty and saw johnny sitting on my porch.
he had on a white shortsleeved shirt, and was on his phone typing away.
a: it's freezing out here what are you doing?
j: i was waiting for you.
he says blatantly.

a: where is your jacket, it's like forty degrees.
j: someone sounds worried about me.
he says flirty.
a: most humans have a tendency to care about people's feelings and well being.
i say sarcastically as i roll my eyes and he smiled at me.
something feels off about him wanting to hang out but i can't put my finger on it.
growing up i've always had to be mindful of friends because there were people trying to get close to me for the wrong reasons.
especially being in the public eye, so i think it's more of reflex, but i don't know for sure. 

a: next time knock on the door, or the spare key is taped to the rock that says family.
i say pointing at it.
j: so there's a next time.
a: whatever.
i say rolling my eyes because he turns everything into a joke.
i opened my door and guided him to the living room, where hayley and her friend txunamy, caleb and asher were sitting on the couch playing video games.
being loud.

a: hi family.
i say a bit louder so they could hear.
johnny stared at me.
a: i told you it was loud.
j: no kidding.
he says making a silly face.
which made me laugh.

there attention went to me.
c: hey guys!
ash: what's up!
a: this is johnny
i say introducing them.
a: you obviously know caleb and asher, and this is hayley and her friend txunamy.
j: nice meeting you all.
he says generally

c: you guys ready?
h$: yeah we've been waiting for you two.
j: waiting for what?
a: it's game night.
i start to laugh.
j: game night?
he says sarcastically.
a: we take this super serious, you'll see.
j: looking forward to it.
a: i gotta shower you can sit in my room or mingle with them.
j: i'll go with you.
a: alright.
even weirder that he wants to be attached at my hip.
when he knows asher fairly well.

we went upstairs and he plopped on my bed.
a: i'm gonna wash your clothes tonight then give them to you tomorrow. if that's okay.
j: i told you to keep them, and since you're coming to the soccer game on friday maybe where it there.
a: i'll think about it, might hurt ashers feelings.
i say sarcastically.
j: are you guys together.
a: no, you would not be in my room right now if i was dating him.
j: that's a fair point.
i nod my head

j: well then he'll be fine with one game.
a: i'm sure he will be.
i say putting my stuff away from gymnastics.
j: maybe i could come to one of your meets.
a: feel free, not a lot of people come to watch. i wish they would though, it'd be nice to show off my skills to people besides family.
j: your friends don't go?
a: yeah, but they're family.
i say laughing.

j: well i'd love to come obviously i'll need apparel.
he says sarcastically
a: here's a hoodie.
i say throwing it at him.
a: there's some other things at the top of the closet.
he goes to my closet and see's all my apparel.
j: why so much?
he ask while laughing.

a: nine years of gymnastics and a mom who treats everyone like family.
that's all true, but in reality i would get sponsored and we would sell merch.
so i had a lot of my own.
j: bra-
a: not that one.
i say taking it back
a: calebs you know.
he looks at me funny.
and picks up a hoodie from my bed.
j: well i'm keeping this one.
a: go for it.
i didn't pay him much attention because i don't think he'll actually go to one of my meets.

johnnys pov:
annie finished showering and she came out in black nike shorts and a navy blue t-shirt.
i stared at her for awhile as she brushed her hair.
she really was pretty.
i need to step up my game to win this bet.
i don't know if hayden has talked to annie yet, but she's closed off and doesn't seem to  like me much.
if i don't make her fall for me, i'm gonna lose fifty bucks, and i rather not have that happen.
a: you ready.
j: let's do it.
we walked down the stairs and everyone shouted.

ash: the lovebirds finally showed up.
a: yeah we're here, what game are we playing?
she ask as we sit on the couch.
h$: man hunt assassin.
c: house version, since you don't look like you're ready to go outside.
a: mister t-shirt next to me isn't either.
ash: it's easier inside anyways.
h$: and warmer.

c: are we scaring you johnny.
caleb ask as he noticed i'm quite quiet.
j: no i'm just not used to this type of stuff.
ash: get used to it, once you're in they won't let you leave. speaking from personal experience.
i started to laugh.
a: shut up, you know you don't want to leave.
ash: i would if i could.
a: that's why you're here every day after school and spend the night at least three times a week.
annie says laughing.
c: that is true ash.
ash: whatever
he says rolling his eyes.

h$: you know how to play right?
hayley ask me changing the subject.
j: never heard of it man hunt assassin.
h$: really you're gonna have some much fun, okay so basically it's manhunt which is like hide and seek tag, but there are a team of assassins, but you don't know who it is, in manhunt if you get tagged you help the team that tagged you. but now you have to look out for the hunters and assassins, but you don't know if they're the same people.
c: yeah and the trick is we're all in groups of two, one group will be the hunters and assassins or two different groups that are either the assassin or hunter, but you know who the hunters are but never the assassins.
a: it's better with more people but it's still fun with six.

j: i'm so down for this.
h$: it's so fun and after we get pizza and watch jules cry about how she never wins.
she nods her head.
a: sounds about right.
c: we'll change partners per round, but right now we'll do hayley and txu, annie and johnny and ash and i.
a: sweet.
we wrote on the slip two seekers one hunter.
we reached in the hat while we all separated with out partner and walkies to open the paper.
a: we're the assassins.
j: what does that mean?
a: we have to find the hiders before the hunters do spray them with water and then spray the hunters.

j: should we like hold hands.
i said flirty
and annie snorted
j: oh my gosh what was that.
a: don't make fun of me.
she says bug eyes.
after the five minutes were up we went around looking for who the hiders were.
i was kind of confused on the game, but i just went with it.

her house was a lot bigger than i saw earlier, a lot of secret rooms.
her parents must have really good jobs.
a: wait do you hear that.
she says whispering.
j: no.
i say flat
and she shushed me.
and pressed her ear against the wall.
so i do the same.

"i saw hayley and txu walk to the master bathroom, they're probably in the shower."
asher said
"alright one sec i just need to load up my nerf gun."
caleb responsed.
a: let's go.
annie said grabbing my hand and pulling me.
j: your house is so big it's like a maze.
a: sorry about that.
j: no i was kidding.
i say laughing as we enter the bathroom.
a: stay right here and shoot asher and caleb when they get up here, i'm gonna get these two.
j: okay.

i could hear annie spray txunamey and hayley and i heard asher and caleb come up the steps.
before they got to the bathroom i sprayed the both of them.
c: what?
ash: how'd you guys get here before us.
annie came back out.
a: we're a good pair.
she says giving me a fist bump.

h$: anns actually won a round.
c: only because she had johnny
a: probably right. did you have fun?
annie asked me.
j: yeah that was super fun, can we playing again.
a: yeah.
ash: are we changing teams.
a: sure.
c: okay, annie and asher, johnny and hayley, txu and i.
a: sounds good.
we played a few more rounds and it was honestly so much fun.
annie's fun to be around.
