That next morning, the poor hotel worker who had witnessed the tragedy that last night was in the presence of Detective Jay Winston: The best detective in Purple Bay. "So tell me Carlos. Who or what killed Derek Long and Karen Birmingham?" "The...The water!" He stammered. Jay looked at him curiously. "Yes, the hot tub and a tidal wave killed two capable humans?" "Yes!" He yelled. She rolled her eyes. "Ma'am?" He asked. "What Carlos?" "I'm going to be late for work." He told her. "Come back to me after your shift." She told him. "Yes ma'am." He said and hurried out the door. Later when he arrived at the hotel, his friend, Gabbriella was taking a smoke break in the parking lot. He pulled into an open space and got out of his car. He ran up to her and she asked "Damn, what happened? You're never late for work." "Sorry, just stuff from last night." He admitted. "Oh" she said as he hurried into the hotel. He went to the bar and told the man filling in for him that he got it from here. Not many people were thirsty at the time so he poured himself a glass of water. He took a long sip and swished it in his mouth a little, but as soon as he was about to swallow he felt something crawl around in his throat. He spat out the water on the ground, but he didn't see anything but water.A mother and her son had witnessed the whole thing and quickly scurried away. When his shift was almost over Gabby walked up to the bar and sat on a stool. "Hey murderer." She said as she laughed at her own joke. "I am not a murderer and you know that!" He said. "Ok, you want to get a drink after work?" She asked. "Yeah, got nothing better to do." He replied. "Okay, you're driving." She said as she hurried off to the car. Carlos walked to his car to see Gabby waiting at the passenger side pulling at the handle. "You gonna unlock it or what?" She asked. He clicked the button on the keys and the locks clicked up. She opened the door and slid in. A drop of water dropped on Carlos' forehead. He looked up at the ceiling in confusing. He knew that they were under the restaurant and he didn't know why water was coming off it. "HONK!" He spun around in shock to see Gabby stretched over to the drivers side with her hand on the horn. He rolled his eyes and walked to the car. They pulled into their local bar and went inside. "Hey Barry." Gabby said to the bartender as they sat down at the bar. "The usuals?" Barry asked. "You know it." Carlos said. Barry came back a few minutes later with a Bloody Mary and a Coors Lite. Carlos hadn't even taken a sip of his drink when his phone rung. He looked at it and saw that Jay was calling. "Shit!" He yelled. "What?" Gabby asked while downing that Bloody Mary. Carlos put a 20 dollar bill down on the table and ran out the door. Gabby got up from her chair with a sausage in her hand. "Wait! You're my ride!" She yelled. "Keep the change." She told Barry and ran after Carlos.
