...Holmes has been asking me for this for...I don't even know how long.
"Hey Da Vinci, how's it going?" Ritsuka calls.
"Going good over here! What about you? You've got the bracelet, right?"
"Yep, all good!"
She laughs.
"Well, just place it in the center of the summoning circle, and this should work! I've already modified the system. Oh, right!"
As he places the bracelet down, she runs and places a scrap of paper in the circle next to it.
"Forgot! Need another Phantom Spirit to combine with! This'll work for that!"
Ritsuka nods.
"Okay, I trust you! Ready?"
"Ready!"
They flip a few switches, and the summoning room fills with a bright white light. When it fades, a man is standing there. Ritsuka takes a step forward, noting down his appearance mentally. He's about 5'6", with pale lavender eyes with amethyst flecks, chocolate-brown, shortish, curlyish hair (it looks like Joker's hair from Persona 5, Ritsuka thinks, having been dragged into playing that game by Tomoe Gozen a few weeks prior), pale skin, and pale coffee freckles sprinkled on his cheeks and the bridge of his nose. He's wearing mostly white and light gray with a little bit of dark gray. He also has black, thin-framed glasses.
"Hello!" He states with a smile, "My name is Dr John Watson, Caster-class Servant. Nice to meet you!"
Ritsuka high-fives Da Vinci.
"It worked!"
Da Vinci smiles.
"I'll go tell him."
She runs off. Ritsuka turns back. Watson picks up the bracelet and examines it. From under his right sleeve, he pulls an identical bracelet. He looks at the two and smiles.
"So he kept it?"
Ritsuka steps forward. Watson looks up.
"Ah, I'm sorry! What's your name?"
He smiles at his new Servant.
"I'm Ritsuka Fujimaru, your Master."
"Well, it's nice to meet you."
He holds up the bracelet.
"He's here, isn't he."
Ritsuka laughs awkwardly.
"Yep, he's...he's definitely here."
Watson sighs.
"I am so sorry for any problems he may have caused..."
"No, no, it's okay! He actually—"
He's interrupted by the summoning room's door sliding open. Holmes is standing there, very clearly trying hard to maintain his composure, as opposed to running up to his friend and screaming with excitement. Da Vinci is standing right next to him, smirking like she knows the most embarrassing secrets of everyone in the room. She's scribbling something down in a notebook. Watson smiles brightly.
"Sherlock! It's been...how long has it been?"
Holmes shakes his head at the ground with a small smile.
"Somewhere between a century and a century and a half, my friend. It depends when one believes that our cases took place."
Ritsuka looks at Holmes, an almost frustrated expression on his face.
"That's right...I was going to ask you, Watson..."
"Yes?"
"So...are you and him from actual history? Or are you from the novels?"
Watson looks to Holmes, who shakes his head firmly. Watson sighs, amused. He walks up and hands him the bracelet. Holmes grabs it and slips it on.
"You still love a good dramatic reveal just as much as you did when we were alive, don't you, Sherlock," he teases. Holmes smiles.
"You know me all too well, John. All too well."
Watson turns to his Master.
"I'm sorry, but I can't tell you."
Ritsuka suppresses the urge to groan in frustration.
"...fine."
Watson smiles.
"So, is there anyone else here I can meet? By the way, where is 'here'?"
"You're in a place called Chaldea. We're actually in Antarctica right now. And yeah, I have a lot of other Servants that you can meet if you want to."
"Fantastic!" Watson exclaims, "Let's go!"
Da Vinci runs off to do Da Vinci things, and Ritsuka and Watson start walking towards the summoning room's exit. Noticing that there's only two sets of footsteps on the metal floor, instead of three, Ritsuka turns back. Holmes is just standing there...staring. He taps Watson on the shoulder.
"Wait here, will you?"
"Okay!"
Ritsuka walks back to Holmes, who's standing perfectly still, like a statue. He's just standing there. And staring. His emerald eyes shimmer and shine with some emotion Ritsuka can't seem to identify. But he knows what it is, the kind of knowing where you know that you know it but you can't quite remember it, and then someone else mentions it by name and you facepalm and say 'yeah, duh'. He snaps his fingers in front of his face.
"Hey, Reality to Detective."
Holmes shakes his head violently, like he was just snapped out of a trance. He takes a breath and tries to pin a calm tone onto his voice.
"Y-Yes?"
"I'm gonna show Watson around. You coming?"
"Y-Yeah," Holmes mumbles. When they get to the door, Watson turns to Ritsuka.
"...can you help me keep an eye on him? I'm really worried."
Ritsuka nods, and they enter the harshly-lit hallway.
