" I still don't know why I'm like this"
" It was so perfect before, why does it have to end like this?!" Maddy screamed in her head and slid down her wall. Tears were streaming down her face. Maddy is 13, all was perfect when she was a child, tea parties and fun. Her parents never argued, never. Maddy thought to herself all of what had happened to her life, what could have gone wrong?Maddy remembered when the twins were brought into this world, Chris and February. She didn't hate them it was just that after a few years things started getting worse. Her parents started arguing and it kept going, day after day, week after week, month after month, and year after year. It was like they have fallen out of love... " This can't be happening, all my life I just wanted us to be happy," Maddy sobbed.
Soon the arguing stopped and she heard her mother yell, " I'm done with this," Maddy's eyes were watering again but wiped it all up. She huddled close to her pillow laying sideways on her bed. The door creaked, her mom standing in front of the door staring at Maddy. Maddy could feel that she was heartbroken, her mom walked up to Maddy and sat on her bed while Maddy sulked.
" Hey honey," her mother said, Maddy still sulked staring at her window. " Are you okay, I'm sorry you had to hear," her mother looked at Maddy and she smiled, " I know you hate me and your father arguing a lot but it is just..." her mother paused and fidgeted her fingers, her palms were sweaty from exhaustion. " I just wanted to check if your okay," she said. Maddy was silent hugging her pillow tight, her mother kissed her forehead and walked back to the door, " Well sleep tight sweetheart," her mother closed the door.
Maddy rose from bed to text her friend, Ariel.
Ariel, you there?
Of course, I am, why the late text?
Just my parents.
Oh, okay then what's up?
I just wanted to talk to somebody that's all.
Okay, then why in the text? We can just call.
I don't want my parents hearing.
Well okay, maybe we can hang out tomorrow?
Sure. Is it okay if I bring the twins?
Of course, they can play with John!
Okay, I'll see you after school.
Yeah okay, let's hangout then.Maddy grabbed her headphones and laid on her bed. A song played on her phone while she had thought of school tomorrow. The summer holiday was a holiday of her parents finally not arguing for long. But now school was tomorrow and she had to listen to arguments again. Maddy moaned of exhaustion and closed her eyes, falling into a deep sleep.
The sound of loud bells awoke her, it was her alarm clock. Maddy turned it off and tried going back to sleep when a knock on her door annoyed her. February and Chris opened the door and ran to Maddy, even though February and Chris were only young children, they were smart enough. " Maddy wake up!" they both yelled, jumping on her bed happily giggling with delight.
Maddy was exhausted only because she slept late. School started in 3 hours so she had to get ready. She went down the stairs to see her mom making breakfast, " Hi mom," Maddy said. " Good morning kids, hurry up and get ready," her mom said. February and Chris were playing with toys, the television was on and the table laid some finished cup of coffee and a dirty plate, dad must have already gone to work.
Maddy went back upstairs to get ready and when she finished she went back down the stairs with her bag and her sketchbook in hand, with a pencil on her ear, some graphic T-shirt that she never wore, and some jeans. She sat at the table drawing before her mom handed her breakfast. " I have work until 10 so can you make dinner? Your dad is also will be working late too," her mom exclaimed and handed her breakfast.
" I will, I'm going to bring the twins to Ariel's house after school to play with Jonathan if that's all right," Maddy chewed on her breakfast of eggs and toast. " Sure just don't come back late," her mom answered drying her hands with her apron. Well, I'm going to send the kids to daycare. You can get them right with your bike?" her mother asked, Maddy, nodded as she stood up to was her plate. " I got that for you," her mother took her plate and added it to the other dirty plates in the sink.
Her mother checked the time on the clock and gasped, " Well I'm going to be late for work, and you too for school," her mother exclaimed. Maddy kissed the twins ad her mom before going out to the door. " Bye!" she yelled from the door, going on her bike to school.
