~I promised~ Cookie's Backstory /TW\

Happy Birthday Cookie...

I open my eyes. It's finally the day.. I look at the paper next to me. 21sf June 2020... it's my birthday..
"Happy birthday to me..."
I say with a sad smile. I never celebrate my birthday anymore, since I was kicked out I had no one to celebrate with anyway. I stand up and jump down out of my small tree house. I've gotten used to how far I fall and it doesn't hurt anymore. I tuck my silver streak into my brown hair, hiding it from view. It was the only thing that could get me caught anyway since my brown hair and green eyes were normal. Even knowing this I pulled up my hood and walked into town.

The town is busy and crowded. It's perfect really. I find the bakers and stop outside, he's in the back, now's my chance.. I grab a loaf of bread and make a run for the ally.
"Hey!! Thief!! Get back here!!" the baker yells at me. I ignore him and keep running, if I can make it to the ally then-
"Got you!" a man has grabbed me by my shoulders. Shit I'm too far away from the ally to keep going. I struggle and squirm, trying to keep my hood up
"Get off me! Let me go!! I stole some bread, big deal!" I scream at him
"Shut up!" He slaps me and I get flashbacks to my first crime... without thinking I grab my pocket knife and slash at the man. I hit his arm with such force that he lets me go and I run into the ally, scaling up the wall using the looser bricks and I pull myself into an apartment room.
"Happy birthday cookie!!" A small boy shouts at me. I turn ready to attack, but seeing the boy I relax.
"Heh... thanks Danny.." I say back at him with a smile, pocketing my knife. I walk over and sit down with him and we eat the stolen bread. I knew he lived here of course, his mother was an alcoholic and his father was dead like mine. I cared for him most of the time

Once we finish the bread the small blonde boy lays down resting his head on my lap. I play with his hair as he drifts off to sleep. I'm glad I can protect him, he's so young he doesn't even know what the world is like. I'll keep him safe, I have too... I promised.

Thanks for reading this far!! I know her story is a bit dark but she lives through and loves it!! Since this was only a backstory, this is the end. But I am in the process of writing a story with Cookie and Danny called "run from the world"
