A Murder in the Dark

Chapter 3: The Discovery

Caroline woke up Jess' screams of terror. She was soon screaming too.
On her left was her best friends bloody arm. She could see the jagged knife in Melodys neck.

"Ahhhh!!!!! Momm!" Jess cried again at the top of her lungs, though still no response. Her eyes franticly looking at Caroline. "We have to get out of here. That way." Jess pointed towards the door.

She hurriedly stepped over the body and made a run for the door with Caroline. Caroline and Jess burst through the door and past the stairs to go to Jess' parents bedroom. They crashed through the door and Jess screamed "Momm!" Tears pouring from her eyes. "It's Melody, somebodybrokein and and and momIthinkshesdead!!

"What in the world?!?" Her mom said her dad looking confused too. Pushing past the girls, the four of them went into the bedroom. "WHAT IN THE WORL-" but Jess' mom couldn't finish the sentence because right there, on the spot she fainted.

Minutes later the police arrived on the spot and decided that they needed to take the Jess' whole family and Caroline, her parents , as well as Melody's parents for questioning.

Though Jess' mom was whisked away by an ambulance to make sure that everything was ok because she fainted.

Jess was first to be interviewed but the police.

"What happened?"

"I don't know.... sir? I woke up and she was, well, you know"

"Did you hear anything during the night?"

"Um no I'm a very deep sleeper."

"You don't seem to be telling the truth miss. You are already a suspect, I don't think you want to move into a worse place then you already are."

"Wait. Lemme get this straight... people are already accusing me?! I was Melody's best friend!" Jess cried tears streaming down her face.

"Well people do have different opinions. You and ur little friend are in a tough position."

Soon it was Carolines turn that went like wise the same. Then came Jess' dad..

"Hello. I have right to believe that you were home when the scene took place."

"Yes, I was in bed."

" Did you hear anything?"

" actually, now that I think of it yes. I did hear something moving around. No I just assumed that it was a mouse or a rat. We have those up in our attic... been trying get rid of em' nasty creatures. Just can't seem to.."

Then every body else was interviewed.
