This will be a fic where harry is a event rider (horseys) and louis works for him as his head groom (looks after the horses and yard and manages the other grooms) its just something new i wanted to try so pls give it a chance!!
So I don't know if this will work as I know most of you probably don't know the first thing about eventing or riding, but this first chapter is here to basically explain some of the basics, and if you ever get confused about something along the way it will probably be explained in here, or you can just ask me! I haven't seen any riding based fics on Wattpad yet, but pls give it ago ands i'll try and make is as uncomplicated as possible, but eventing is something i'm super passionate about and the topic I'm going to be writing about is quite important to me so i would love for more people to hear about it. Ok so here goes..
An event is basically a triathlon but on a horse, so it has three different disciplines all in one competition. There are two types of events in England, a national British event (BE) or an international event (FEI). A BE event you complete in a day, and an international FEI is over 4 days.
A BE (National event) First is dressage: Basically when the horses do dances and look pretty, you have to perform specific movements in order and the lower the score the better. Usually score range between 20-50, but theoretically scores could be from 0-100.

Then showjumping: Where you have to jump a round of coloured poles, and if you knock them down or have a refusal you get 4 penalties added to you dressage score, and if you go too slow every second over the time is another 0.4 of a point added. The time is usually about 2 mins with around 9-11 fences to jump.

The cross-country(XC): The most dangerous/exciting (and best) part of the sport. Where you gallop through the countryside and to jump solid rustic fences at speed, go through water, jump brushes, skinnies, ditches etc. If you have a stop or runout at a fence it is 20 penalties added to your score, the courses are usually around 6 minuets long, and you have to complete the course within 15sec time gap of the optimum time so you can't go too fast or too slow, or 0.4 penalties will be added to your dressage score for every second outside the time. E.g if the optimum time is 6mins 45sec, you have to cross the finish between 6.30 and 6.45.
