Chapter 2 – Lea’s P.O.V
"Here comes, Bre” I say, pointing at my enemy, Bre.
“Ew, look at her!” my best friend, Ashley, says, laughing.
Bre ignores us as she walks past, then heads to her locker. I nudge Ashley, we both follow her, purposely whispering about her.
People sometimes ask me why I’m so mean to Bre, they say she did nothing wrong. They don’t understand.
Well, here is why I hate her so much…
So, she was the new kid at the beginning of the year, for starts. On her first day, my crush, Joel, went up to her and started talking to her. That was what really started it all. From then on, I’ve hated her. I mean, I think Joel likes her and she doesn’t even see it… That’s why I hate her, okay?
I’m just about to go and tease her some more when Joel walks past me and leans his shoulder against Bre’s locker.
“Hey” I hear him say.
I feel a bit of pain inside me as he says that.
She rolls her eyes at him and walks away.
See what I mean? She doesn’t notice anything!
“What?” he says running after her but she ignores him and he turns around.
"Hey, Joel” I wave as he walks past me.
He ignores me then suddenly stops walking.
He turns around and storms over to me.
“WHAT is your problem?” he shouts, “What has she ever done to you?”
I blink back tears and lean against my locker. I wish he knew my problem with her.
“Yeah, that’s right, you have no reason! Do you? She’s just a normal girl and she shouldn’t have to deal with you torturing her everyday of her life!”
I was just about to strike back when I saw Bre coming down the hallway, she realised what was going on.
“Joel…” she says, “Leave it, okay? I’m fine, really!”
He glares at me as Bre leaves then turns around and follows her.
I just want to scream. I wish there was a different way to do things, other than bullying Bre. What else am I supposed to do though?
Joel’s P.O.V
“I wish Lea and her friend would just leave you alone, y’know?”
She nods and carries on walking down the street.
I run to catch up with her.
“Do you have any idea why she, you know, bullies you?”
She shakes her head, “No...”
“I’m going to ask her tomorrow…” I state.
“Please don’t!” she says, stopping.
“Why not?”
“It’s only going to make things worse than they already are…”
“Okay, fine!” I say, “At least let me help you, then?”
“Help me?”
“Can we at least be friends?” I ask.
She nods, “Okay”
Suddenly, she trips over the pavement and her bag falls off her back.
I go over to help her.
Her jacket falls off and I see the bruises on her arms.
“Was that-?”
She cuts me off, “Yeah, it was…”
“So she doesn’t just verbally bully you?”
She shakes her head.
“No one was meant to see that….”
I look at her in shock, “You seriously need to tell someone! You have bruises on your arms! That isn’t right!”
“Of course it isn’t!” she sighs, getting up, “Nothing about it is right, what am I supposed to do though?”
I grab her arm and help her up.
“I gotta go..” she says, picking up her stuff.
“Okay, see you tomorrow?” I ask.
She nods.
“Bye” I say and she waves.
I sigh.
I really need to do something… but what?
