Chapter 3 – Bre’s P.O.V.
Wow, that was embarrassing.
The cutest boy in my class wants to be friends and I just fell over in front of him. Clumsy much?
I sigh as I open the front door to my house and walk in.
My mum meets my in the hallway, “Was today any better?”
“It wasn’t as bad as yesterday,” I say putting my bag down on the sofa.
“Oh, that’s good, I guess,” she smiles.
“I’ve actually got a friend now, I suppose”
She raises her eyebrows.
"What?” I say, gently pushing her.
“Who is it, then? Do I know her parents?”
“Her?” I question, “What makes you think it’s a girl?”
“Oh, so it’s a boy?”
I nod, shyly.
She raises her eyebrows again.
“Shut up! He’s just a friend!”
She comes over to me and takes off my jacket; I didn’t have time to stop her.
“Oh my god” she says standing back.
“It’s nothing mum, really…”
“Nothing? Those are bruises, Bre!”
“Please don’t make a fuss about it! It’s no big deal!” I beg.
“I told you that if it gets worse I’m going to talk to the headmaster about it!”
“No, mum, don’t!”
“I’m going in tomorrow, Bre! This needs to stop!”
I scream and I storm upstairs.
I wake up to a beeping sound coming from my phone.
I look at my clock, 6pm.
I find my phone and pick it up.
I look at the message.
‘You told someone. BIG mistake. See you tomorrow, loser’ – L
I throw my phone across the room and it bounces against the wall.
Great. First verbal bullying, then physical bullying and now, cyber bullying.
I decided that my mum didn’t need to know about this. The bruises were enough for one day.
I delete the message and go downstairs.
I walk into the kitchen to find my mum.
I stand next to her as she cooks dinner, “Look, I’m sorry about the chair, the ice cream and, well, everything…”
“It’s okay, Bre, I understand” she smiles, “I’m still going to talk to the headmaster tomorrow!”
I sigh and sit down at the table.
“I just hope it doesn’t get any worse” she goes on.
I bit my lip, nervously.
I’m not going to tell her about the text, should I tell Joel though?
If he wants to help me, he deserves to know everything. I know, I know, so does my mum but I don’t want her to have anything else to deal with right now.
Ashley’s P.O.V
“Lea…” I say nervously.
“What?” she snaps back.
“Do you really think it was a good idea to send that text?”
“Whatever” she sighs.
“Can we please leave now? We’ve been behind this bush for hours! I think I’ve got about a million spider bites”
“Spiders don’t bit” she replies.
“Some do….”
She stands up from behind the bush and walks on.
I run to catch up with her.
This really felt wrong. I didn’t even want to be friends with Lea. I wanted to at first to be popular but now this just doesn’t feel right.
“Why are you mean to her anyway?” I ask, curiously.
“Mind your own business, Ash!”
I roll my eyes, “I’m leaving.”
“Uhhh, no your not!” she grabs my arm.
I wonder if this is when I should tell Lea that I don’t want to be friends with a bully.
I decide not to.
“Fine then… where are we going?”
“Closer to her house!”
“Uh, why?” I ask
“If we are going to send her texts, we need to know more, don’t we?” she smiles
I bit my lip, “I don’t know…”
“Come on, Ashley! Do you want to be friends or not?”
“I’ll wait here, okay? You go ahead!”
“Ughhh, whatever! Just make sure no one sees you, kay?”
She walks away and I sit behind the bush, worried.
