Hi I'm Eddie Kaspbrak and there are 5 things you need to know about me,
1. I'm gay
2. I cuss up storms
3. I am just waiting for college
4. I hate social situations
5. I have a bad feeling about junior year
I can't believe I have to do this again, high school fucking sucks. At least when you're the gay kid and your mom hates you for being gay, your dad is dead and you have never had anyone give you any love or attention.
I hop up the bus steps and am overwhelmed by the smell of gasoline and assholes who don't wear deodorant. I sit in the very back to avoid any social contact whatsoever. I then turn up my music in my headphones and look out the window.
Suddenly the bus thunders with claps as the "hottest guy ever" walks up the steps and down the aisle.
He starts making his way to the back... the very back.
"Excuse me? Is this seat taken?" He asked me.
"Yeah you see I like to bring my invisible friends to school so it kind of is." I roll my eyes.
"Let me re-phrase then, may I please sit here cute-boy-whos-name-I-dont-know-of?"
"Yes you may. And my name is Edward Kaspbrak."
"Well Eds, my name is Richie Tozier."
"I know, you are like ever cheerleaders dream and every guys idol at the school so I hear your name around sometimes."
"Someone is feisty."
"Yeah well don't take it personal, I just hate social situations."
"Ahhhh I see."
We sat in silence for a minute and then he handed me a note, it read:
I don't me too offend you (thats when you know your about to get offended) but I wanted to ask are you gay?
I was very hesitant to answer, I did it anyway. I wrote back "yes" and he just nodded. I was actually surprised, if anyone had asked me that and I said yes, they probably would have changed seats or slurred in my face.
"Your not running away?" I asked.
"Why would I? Are you a drug addict or dealer?"
"Uh no."
"Do you hurt people?"
"No."
"So then why would I run away?" He smiled.
"People dont usually like me. Especially if they knew I was gay."
"Well I'm not in that group. I'm different."
I smiled and looked out the window. Shit. I can't catch feelings, he isn't gay and he is playing me. I can't let him do that.
We hop of the bus and he smiles at me and says, "I'll see you on the bus ride home Eds." Then he ran to his group and I hollered back, "DON'T CALL ME EDS!"
I could see him smile at me it was subtle but it was there.
