X: Double-crossed

Akame just finished her shift from guarding the entrance. She went back to the headquarters to change. It has been a week since the kidnapping situation happened. Illumi stopped bringing her to his missions so she was mostly in the mansion the whole week. And Jericho had been too concerned about her. It's bothering her so she kept telling him to give her space.

She went to the mansion and helped the other butlers in there. She was not used to not doing anything, so in her free time, she always helped around instead of resting. She saw Illumi at the dining table, he was reading a portfolio. She went to the kitchen and saw Canary about to serve food.

"Canary," she called.

"Oh, hi Akame-san"

"Need a hand?"

"Oh yes, please. Can you bring this to master Illumi? I have to check the soup in the kitchen."

"Sure"

"Thanks"

Akame took the tray and went to the dining room. She saw Illumi was still busy reading, she took a deep breath and walked towards him. They hadn't been talking since the incident. He was always out for missions, and she suddenly had a lot of responsibilities. She was tasked to train the new butlers.

"Illumi-sama here's your food," she greeted.

"Just put it there,"

"Yes, master"

Illumi closed the folder after reading. He took a bite of the pastry that was served. Akame was standing at the corner, waiting for orders. He looked at her, then saw she was also looking at him. He looked back at the folder and pretended to read again. He avoided her during the past week since he felt guilty when her life was in danger. He didn't want to admit it, but he already felt attached to her.

Akame wanted to speak to him, but she didn't know what to say. She remembered something. When she was kidnapped, she realized that she didn't have an offensive ability. She thought that this was the time where she needed to collect an ability. She looked at Illumi again and saw that he was still reading. She took a step towards him.

"Illumi-sama, are you going out for a mission today?"

"Yes," he answered without looking.

"Can I...Uhm...can I accompany you, master?"

"Why is that?"

"Uhm...I realized that...I needed an offensive ability, to avoid the...Uhm...the previous situation."

"Okay. Just make sure not to be a hindrance anymore."

"Yes, master. Thank you so much"

Akame was glad that Illumi agreed to take her. She made sure that she could avoid the previous situation since she had a new ability. She borrowed an ability from the new butler, she was already a nen user and her ability was teleportation. This would help her easily escape any situation. Though there are some limitations to it.

Illumi told her to start the car. He went to his room and changed clothes. Then he made his way to the garage and saw Akame there. She went out of the car and opened the door for him. Then she drove the car. He told her that his mission was in Yorkshin City, so she pinned the location and drove there. When they reached the building, Akame opened the door for him and was about to follow him inside but he stopped her.

"Stay here,"

"But master I need to--"

"I'll just bring out a random guard with an ability after my mission. I don't want you to waste any more time"
