Stan sighed heavily as he looked at the clock on the wall. Time was passing too quickly, which would generally make him happy, after all, it was only a few minutes before Friday actually started. But not that day. That day, Stan Marsh was hoping that time would freeze and that damn geography class would drag on as long as possible. Anything was better than what was to come... He shook his head when Kyle snapped his fingers in front of him.
"What's up with the clock?" he asked, turning on his seat so he could speak to his friend. He whispered while the teacher explained something. The smile faded from Kyle's face when he realized that Stan was distressed. "Everything cool?"
"No... Shelly's coming to spend the weekend... And to improve it's a holiday in the city she studies so she'll be here for four days..." Stan hadn't seen his sister since Christmas break, which she spent at home, but then she spent the new year out, probably with her new friends from college. "Really thought i was gonna be free from her till Summer..."
Kyle instantly made a pity face. He knew his best friend's sister well enough to fully understand why he was unhappy with her arrival. Shelly had always been... A complete bitch with her younger brother. "Shit, dude... You know you can spend the weekend at my house if you want, right? We can come up with something if you wanna stay out of yours while she..."
"I can't... My mom came with that "i want all the family together" bullshit..." he snorted, resting his head on one hand. "I think she's having one of those maternal instinct crises, especially after Shelly spent Christmas with us and left to spend the New Year away. I think she was thrilled that she decided to use a local holiday and came of her own free will."
"That's not much... A Shelly move, right?" Kyle replied looking at him and Stan shrugged which made the other laugh. "It'll be over soon, dude. She'll leave in no time."
"Hopefully she won't piss me off tôo much this time... I really wanna watch the Broncos game at peace this Sunday..."
...
After class, Stan went home and locked himself in his room. If he had to stay at home, at least he'd take refuge somewhere where he didn't need to have too much direct contact with his sister, that would arrive at any moment. While exchanging messages with Wendy and trying to find a note he was trying to play on his guitar, his mother slowly opened the door. "Honey...? Can i come in?"
"Uh... Sure." he put the guitar aside and was scared when his mother made a startled noise. "What is it?"
"Aren't getting dressed? Shelly will be here soon and..." his hair was disheveled, he wore an old white T-shirt that had yellow patches of crisp bran, boxers and socks. Considering who was about to arrive, he thought he looked great. "Go take a shower. I'll separate some clothes for you."
"Uh... No need, mom... I'm not a kid." he said raising an eyebrow, not understanding why his mother seemed so needy and so overly careful in the past few days. "And why all the fuss? It's not like the president's coming to visit. It's just Shelly..."
