Today's the first day of my highschool year. We've had a long vacation before our classes of senior years started. Being a highschooler sounded fun. I wasn't being an adult but i wasn't a kid either. I would have more responsibility and new experiences. I looked forward to the couple of years I'll be spending in high school.

As it was the first day, everyone seems to be pretty early. We had to collect our schedules, find our classrooms and make new friends. Me and my two best friends Ema and Jennie met at the entrance gate of our school. All three of our mothers came to see us off. We entered the the school with anticipation, eager to know what high school will bring to us.

Collecting our schedules from the headteacher's room, we went down the hallway to find our classroom. The hallway was crowded already, a sheet of paper in everyone's hand. Everyone was looking for their classrooms. As the early month of the year, the weather was cold but with so many people here, the hallway was noticeably warm. It was filled with noises of footsteps, laughing and chattering. We were on our way to our classroom when we heard a loud thud and students making crowd around a certain place.

"What's going on?" Jennie asked. We couldn't make out what was happening as it was too crowded. But we understood that it was a fight between some boys. "Hey let's ignore that. Fighting just at the first day of highschool. They must be some problematic kids" I said wanting to stay away from the crowd. Problems are the last things I want to get involved in my first day of highschool. But Jennie and Ema insisted staying there just enough to see who were fighting, and then we'll move to our classes. "C'mon, let's just see who it is" Jennie says trying to see through the crowd. We heard a boy saying loudly, "Want to do this again?!" and then a loud thump. Everyone infront of us backed up in surprise including us. Ema was tiptoeing when she whispered to us, "I saw them'' "Are they someone we know?" Jennie asks. Ema was going to say something when the headteacher and another Sir hurriedly entered the hallway, moving everyone to sides to see what happened. We moved immediately to one side as we saw the teachers. "They're doomed" I thought."
"What is happening here?" Our headteacher asked loudly. He didn't even need to scream, only a question was enough to make everyone silent. Everyone moved so that the headteacher could reach where I saw two boys, almost at the same height. One boy was held by the collar of his shirt against the wall, by another. The one that's pushed against the wall is Jake, I could recognize him. He was a naughty kid when we were young, but he didn't get involved into fights before. But I couldn't make who the other one was. His face looked familiar but still I couldn't recognize it. Was he someone new?

We would've stayed there some more time but the Sir shooed us away, so we couldn't stay longer. We all moved to our classrooms. Before leaving I looked at the slender boy once more.

In the classroom, I and Jennie sat side by side and Ema sat infront of me. Everyone was talking about the fighting incident. And I was still thinking who the boy was. Tapping on Ema's shoulder I ask her, "Hey who was the boy who hit Jake? He looked familiar but I can't recognize him". "You don't remember him? That's Ian Milan." Oh! Now i remember. He definitely did look like Ian. But a lot older. I couldn't have realized that it was him had Ema not pointed it out. "Is it that Ian boy, with whom we used to have music class in elementary??" "Yeah that one." "But he was a quiet boy though? Why was he fighting, and just on the first day?" Jennie asks. "Who knows."
I also had the same question in mind. He was a small and peaceful boy. When did he even grew up or started fighting I didn't even notice. "Woah, he had become so tall. Last time i remember he was about the same height as us" I say. Ema laughs, "Boys grow tall". They sure do. In the middle of our conversation, a teacher entered our classroom. The whole classroom suddenly became quiet. With the recent invention of Ian, and the anticipation of being a senior, we start our first class.
