Maddie chilled her hands with her frappe cup, "It's warm outside, isn't it?"
Emily nodded and smiled, "So...tell me about yourself.."
Maddie thought for a moment. She despised any sort of conversation about her..
"Well, I really love theater and musicals. Especially Hamilton.", Maddie grinned, looking down at her Hamilton t-shirt.
"KiNkY.", Emily laughed at her reference to Dear Evan Hansen.
"And I miss talking about life and other stuff..", Maddie squinted her eyes at Emily.
"Very specific.", Emily leaned in and smirked at Maddie.
They both laughed, and Emily decided it was her turn to tell of her interests.
She rested a hand on the table, "Obviously, I also like musicals. Um, yeah. I like musicals and I do theater."
"Oh, me too! What's your first show?", Maddie gasped, and they began talking about their theater history. Before they knew it, the coffee shop was closing.
"Has it really been SEVENTEEN hours?", Maddie asked the clerk, who nodded.
Emily and Maddie looked to each other and died laughing.
Maddie took Emily's hand and ran out to the street, "I think...we should hang out some more."
Emily looked at her shoes, "I think...we should, too."
Maddie beamed at Emily, running to the candy store.
"We should do a photo challenge. All around town.", Maddie's eyes flashed with excitement. Emily smiled, sighed, and shook her head.
"Alright.", Emily smirked.
Maddie held up a giant gummy worm and wrapped it around her shoulders. Emily snapped the photo and showed Maddie.
"It looks like a boa-...literally!", Maddie giggled.
Emily ran out to the street and waited for the cars to clear. She did the splits over two trash cans, and smiled to the camera. Maddie took the photo and glared, "Way to out-do me, Em."
"Yeaaaah, don't call me that.", Emily awkwardly shook her head.
"Cannnn I call you Emmy? Ems? Emmys?", Maddie pouted at Emily.
"You can call me Emily?", Emily glared.
Maddie whimpered.
"Andddd maybe Emmy.", Emily sighed.
Maddie jumped up with her fist in the air, "Okay, *Emmy*, where to?"
"I love the beach..", Emily pointed to the beach in the north.
"Bet.", Maddie slipped on her sunglasses and ran to the beach. She kicked up some sand and slipped, falling into the water.
"ACK!", Maddie squealed.
Emily smirked and jumped in after Maddie.
"OUR PHONES!", Maddie cried, and pulled out her phone from her pocket. Emily gasped and pulled her phone from her jacket.
They were both soaked and destroyed. Emily and Maddie looked to each other and laughed.
"We are SO dumb.", Emily cackled.
"Hmm..", Maddie smiled contently at Emily.
Emily made her way to the shore and they lied down in the sand.
"So, any boyfriends, or gorllllfriends?", Emily poked Maddie.
"Nope...", Maddie smiled and shook her head.
"Anyone you got your eye on?", Emily winked at Maddie and laughed.
Maddie went silent.
"Oh you don't have to answer that..", Emily added.
"No, its fine..", Maddie looked into the sunset, "It's just....maybe I like you..."
Emily's ears turned pink, "Oh, Maddie, I'm really sorry...I'm straight."
"I figured.", Maddie shrugged, "It's no biggie."
Emily bit her lip anxiously..,"I lied...I'm bi.."
Maddie didn't look to Emily, but Emily saw the faint blush on her cheeks.
"And maybe I like you, too. I'm not sure..", Emily looked into the sunset with Maddie.
Emily reached out and took her hand. Maddie flinched at her touch, then smiled.
"This is nice..."
