"I loved my soulmate, I still love him, even at this moment, I do."

You had barely had any time to sleep after waking up from the 'dream'. You had a bakery to look after. Business was business after all, and hospital bills were not exactly cheap. How else were you supposed to pay the hospital bills and college fees?

The day at the bakery was especially busy with Christmas around, the cold was not helping either. It had been freezing, no snowfall for the past week, but the mercury had been dropping regardless. You knew that keeping up sales were important, you wanted to save your mother, no matter the financial dig you needed to take and the best was to keep the small bakery business thriving.

Despite the fatigue, you had no plans to return home, you needed to be in the hospital, to keep a check on your mother's health. Your uncle was already sitting outside Room number 04 when you reached there.

"Why didn't you inform me beforehand? She was brought here last night!"

"I know, I know, I'm sorry, I was just so panicked, it just...It slipped my mind." you shook your head, trying to explain to him, but disappointment never left his eyes.

"The nurse had checked just now. They're allowing visitors right now but...But she won't wake up, she isn't waking up."

You felt your heart skip a beat at the words as dread began to fill in your stomach. It was not a good sign after all. But while you had been deliberately distant from everything and anything related to the 'sacred' soulmate connection, your mother's brother shared a beautiful bond with his soulmate, and he definitely knew more than you ever cared to research about.

"The doctor said that she is suffering from soul-sickness." at your words, your uncle's face turned into an untouched canvas before his lips parted and his eyes turned glossy.

"And it has taken a physical manifestation..." he whispered, more or less to himself, but you nodded anyway, feeling your own vision beginning to blur slightly before you blinked away the tears and sniffed away the vulnerability from your face "You know what it means (y/n)?"

"I will save my mother, I don't care what the medical science says, I am going to take the lasts of the strands of hope if I have to." your Uncle said nothing, but his eyes were evidently far less hopeful than you.

"You can try...but know this that your mother is still, irreversibly, deeply in love with-"

"Don't. Don't mention that man to me, Uncle." he only gave you a curt nod before looking away. While you focused on keeping your blood from boiling "I will go and meet her, you're staying?"

"Uh yes, I'm here for the night, just in case. You should get home and have some rest, I'm sure managing academics and the bakery is not easy."

"It's Christmas, we have holidays."

"And thus busy bakery hours. Go home after meeting your Mom (y/n). You need to stay strong and healthy." he was right, you nodded and passed him a small smile before making your way into the room.

The beeps of the monitor pained your ears every way possible- they were obnoxiously loud, they repeatedly interrupting your flow of thoughts but most of all, the beeps were the constant reminders of the fragile thread of life your mother hung on and all because of being cursed by love. You blinked and let the welled-up tears escape before taking a seat by her side, the chair was cold, but it did not bother you much. Your misty eyes remained fixed on your mother's unconscious form.
