"No!" Tessa screams, gets up from bed suddenly, breathing heavily and in cold sweat.

The fire seems not yet gone from the retina, her eyes are still burning red with pain.

The sound of cars and birds singing outside the window finally makes Tessa calmed down.

  I am alive?

All she sees is dark red, maybe because she's been asleep in the sun too long. Tessa tries to move her leg so she can get out of bed.

  ......Birds singing?

She clearly remembers that before the fire broke out, there was snow outside the villa. The villa that the man built to keep her. So how could she hear the birds singing?

Besides, the bed in which she sleeps, and the once familiar bedroom......it is obvious that she is in the house of her adoptive parents. But she never comes back to this house after graduating high school. She looks down and sees her leg, her pupils shrink out of surprise. Her leg looks beautiful like before. There are no ugly scars, no broken bones. They're so delicate, like they're made from pristine jade. The smooth line runs from the calf down to the small ankles, like divine work.

They are Nathaniel's most infatuated part of her body. When they were broken in the accident, he was furious. There are countless dark nights where he would push her against the bed and kiss the scars madly.

After going through the entire room, Tessa finally finds her mobile phone. She quivered as she unlocks her phone and opens the calendar. After seeing the date, the mobile phone fell down to the ground. She covers her hands on her face and cries silently. Tears slide down her cheeks. She did die in the fire. And she returned to ten years ago.

The miracle she has been longing for day and night has come. She has returned to the past, when no misfortune has happened. She didn't marry Nathaniel after Molly's escape or be locked up by him. She wasn't disabled because of Molly, or died from depression.

Now she is about to enter the freshman year, and her life is going to blossom.

She will not be cheated by her adoptive parents again. She will not trust her evil sister Molly again. She will take back everything they own her, and live a full life!

Right now...... It's all in time.

When someone knocks at the bedroom door, Tessa is sitting by the desk and writing on a notebook.

Upon hearing the sound, she closes the book in her hand alarmly and turns back.

The bedroom door opens and her adoptive mother Doris comes in. Tessa tries her best to show a gentle and harmless smile, just in the way she used to.

"Mom."

"Tessa, don't work too hard, take a break. Go downstairs for dinner, OK?"

  "OK, I'm coming."

Doris closes the door and leaves.

Apparently she hasn't noticed the difference in Tessa's behavior and tone, because she doesn't care so much about her adopted daughter.

Tessa used to believe that they treat her just like their real daughter Molly. Now she knows that they only adopt her for the heritage that comes with her. Once they get it, they'll kick her out the door in seconds.

Thinking of what they have done to her in the previous life, Tessa feels that she can not bear to stay in this house for another second. But now she is only a student and a teenager. It's not time yet. She's going to take it slow.
