Birthday flop

Henry's POV

This birthday was a flop.

I fell down the stairs. Ray didn't let me take a day off, because according to him, 'superheroes and their sidekicks don't take days off'.
Then I had to stop Jeff from robbing the blood bank (what the hell was he thinking?) Then, just before I could finally enjoy my Diez Leches Ice Cream Cake, there was another emergency: Ray and I forgot to call the police to lock Jeff up. So Ray told me to go to the blood bank alone to stop Jeff again and wait for the police to come get Jeff. But before the police could even come, my mom called to tell me they were going to eat my cake without me! It was my Diez Leches Cake for god sake! Oh, and I also found out that my sister was opening my presents.

This was a horrible birthday.
And I really thought after stopping criminals every day, sneaking out at night, having stress from balancing a life as a Sidekick and a normal teenage boy, I could finally have a day off and enjoy my birthday. But even that is impossible.

After I got back from stopping Jeff trying to steal an airconditioner, I opened the front door to see that the house was empty.

I walked further into the house to see if there might be anyone else. I walked from behind the bookcase to the kitchen. What I saw was literally the most weird thing. I saw a racoon eating a piece of cake. I'm guessing it's my Diez Leches Cake, cuz, who else's cake would it be, so I walked over to it. I really wasn't paying attention to the raccoon that could easily attack me if he wants. I've been trough enough today, so I actually don't care if that raccoon attacks me or not.

I was eating my Diez Leches Ice Cream Cake piece in peace, until I heard a door open.

Ray's POV

We were all running to gods know where, until I heard Jasper shouting.

"Guys, WAIT! I forgot the last piece of the Diez Leches Cake inside!" He shouts.

"Uhggg! Who cares about that cake now. There's a raccoon inside!" I heard Piper shouting back.

And so, we keep running until we heard Jasper shout again.

"But, that piece was for Henry." he said a little lower.

That's what made me stop in my tracks. I turned around to face him. He also stopped running. I looked to the right and saw that Charlotte and Schwoz were doing the same. We looked at each other for a moment, until we heard Piper scream again.

"Who cares! His birthday has already been ruined." she said. And with that, Piper and Henry's parents kept running. But Charlotte, Schwoz, Jasper and I didn't.

I started to feel guilty. Because of me, Henry's birthday was ruined.

I should've been the one to stop Jeff and wait for the police to come. But instead of that, I sent Henry. It was his birthday. His Diez Leches Cake. And it were his presents. After everything he's doing for Swellview, for us... this is just sad.

Henry deserved a nice birthday. And if his cake was also gonna be eaten by a raccoon, he wouldn't even have been able to eat a piece of cake for his own birthday.

My thoughts were interrupted by Jasper saying. "I'm going back. Piper was right. His birthday is already ruined. I'm not going to let a raccoon make it worse." He said a little sad and determined.

I saw Jasper turn around and walk back to the house.

"We're coming too." I heard Charlotte say as she walked after Jasper. I didn't even have think twice as I followed them. Scwhoz next to me.
