Two sets of footsteps enter the bedroom one after the other. "No. Nope. Absolutely not. I'm sorry but no, that's insane."
"Sierra please just listen to me." He pleads. With a purposely loud sigh she props herself up against the headboard, staring at him expectantly. "This is our only chance. I think it'll work."
"I might feel more convinced if you sounded more confident."
"He's unpredictable." He shrugs. "I know I'm asking a lot because you don't trust himー"
"He stabbed me. Not so long ago he was hunting me down and I was convinced he wouldn't stop until he had my head. I think I'm justified in not trusting him."
"All I'm asking is that you give him a chance."
"I can't believe I'm even considering this. He was intent on killing our baby and now you think they're the key to solving all of this?"
"It's worth a shot isn't it?"
Damn him and his sad eyes.
"Fine. I cannot believe I'm giving him a chance when you know damn well if you asked the same of him he wouldn't even think about it. One chance. That's it. If things go south I'm moving to Mexico without you."
"Mexico?"
"I don't know it was the first place that came to mind." She swings her legs over the edge of the bed.
"I have people there so you'd be looked after."
"Stop talking." Her eyes close.
"It'd be best if he heard it from you. He's already heard enough from me."
"You owe me." She grumbles on her way through the door. Kaden sitting back against the pillows to watch her strut away.
Locating Grayson where she presumed he'd be, she exhales heavily and stands on the opposite side of the coffee table. "I need to speak to you."
Closing his book and sitting upright, he scans her suspiciously. "I get the impression whatever you want to tell me is taking more effort than you have. Which tells me you were talked into this by Kaden."
Tucking her tongue against the inside of her cheek she hesitantly takes a seat at the far end of the couch. His brow arching at the mass of space between them.
"Growing up, I loved the holidays the most because it was when my family came together. I knew my uncle would be there and I was always so excited to see him."
He sighs to himself, already knowing where this discussion is heading.
"He always wore a smile and he could rarely be taken seriously. He was the life of the party. If my parents were unable to look after me he took me in. No matter what he had going on he always told them to bring me over."
"I don'tー"
"He was good to us. He supported me and I owe him so much. Now this baby will grow up with two loving parents, but I know it would mean the world to them to have an uncle too. Someone they can go to when they grow tired of us fussing over them."
