Chapter Two : Protection

Then after our small conversations, days would pass. Sometimes I'd even forget what year I was in.

Day after day, week after week, year after year, I've had to endure these horrific experiments that they force upon us.

All for no reason in my eyes.

I've never really killed a human.

All I did was defend myself when I was about four years old against my uncles beatings. He had just kept hitting me and hitting me. He shouted things like,

"You're a monster! "

"You're a freak! "

"You're the reason your father killed himself! "

I couldn't stand it anymore and I just let go of them. The arms I had been holding back grabbed my uncle and threw him into a window. He's still alive but he'll never walk again. After that, this place found out about me and came for me.

They stripped me of everything I had and chained my body to wall.

This place is what has truly erased my humanity.

I looked up at the dark panel on the wall. I know that they're watching me from behind that panel.

Studying me like an insect.

Watching my every breath. Seeing what makes this machine tick so that they can destroy it.

I laughed internally.

Fools. One day, I'll escape from this hell and I'll become the devil himself. Then I'll go after them and kill them one by one.

One day.... I'll have my revenge.

I quickly smiled widely then frowned.

I can't let them see me smile.

No... I'll save that for when I have my hands wrapped around their neck.

Then I'll let em see the pearly whites that they want to rip out and study.

Hmm. One day...

I sighed softly.

I'm bored. None of the other girls ever reply back to my messages I send out.

They're too scared that one of the scientists will notice something and put them through more experiments.

Lucy doesn't care about the torture they give her.

She's been here so long that the pain just doesn't register anymore.

She's the only one brave enough to speak back.

I respect her for that.

She's become very important to me. My only ally in a world full of eniemes.

We protect each other as much as we can from within these walls.

What's humorous is that I'm this devoted to her and I've never really seen her in person. But I long for the day I can.

I long for the day I can see her and grab her hand. I long for the day we can escape together and exact our revenge.

But will a day like that ever come?

I hear a door open and two guards come in. I raise my head slightly at the sound.

Ha, come for more of me?

I'll never speak, you pigs.

You may have won all of the battles against me so far but you'll never win the war.

They know not to come within three meters of me so they take out their electric sticks.

I don't like the electric sticks.

When they touch me I feel like I'm on fire. I try my hardest to back away from them but it's no use. They just keep getting closer and closer.

"Lucy! " I scream out in my mind.

"Help me! "

The sticks keep getting closer...

"I'm right here, Yona. Is it the sticks again? "

"Yes. They're about to get me! " I cried out.

"I'll talk to you the whole time, okay? That way it'll hurt less. " she said.

The first shock.

I screamed out in pain.

"T-Tell me a story... " I said.

Second shock.

"Once upon a time, there was a little girl who lived in a small castle. "

Third shock.

"She was a small princess in a kingdom full of bigger princesses. "

Fourth shock.

"Because she was so small, all the other princesses hated her. They bullied her and hurt her. "

Fifth shock.

"One day, the princess went to play outside of the castle and she found a small puppy. It was all alone just like her. So, she decided to take care of the lonely puppy and become friends with it."

Sixth shock.

"Because of the puppy, the princess started to open up to one of the nicer princesses and become her friend. She shared good memories with the bigger princess and grew very close to her. "

Seventh shock.

"She even decided to show her the secret puppy she had found and was talking care of. She thought, maybe things will finally get better in my world. "

Eighth shock.

"But, things took a turn for the worse. The bigger princess had told some of the bigger princes about the secret puppy. She had broken her promise to the small princess. The promise to protect the puppy. "

Ninth shock.

"The evil bigger princes brutally beat the lonely puppy right in front of the small princess, killing it. The small princess had never felt so alone. So hurt. So sad. So... Angry. "

Tenth shock.

"The small princess, in a fit of rage, summoned the four murderous demons from hell."

Eleventh shock.

"They saw what had happened to the small princess and were disgusted. "

Twelfth shock.

"They destroyed all the princes and princesses in that room of the castle, staining the walls in maroon. And from that day on the small princess knew she would never be one of them. She would always be an outsider. And she would always be alone. The end. "

Thirteenth shock.

They stopped and walked out of the room.

Back behind their dark panel to study me.

To relish in my pain.

"Thank you, Lucy... "

A tear slipped down my face.

I should've known not to ask Lucy for a story.

Her's always have unhappy endings.
