It was the midst of battle.

Demons scoured the once-peaceful Idris; flames and smoke polluting the air. Just the smoke filling up my nose made me scowl, my eyes tearing up as I rejected the stench. I looked around, to find Isabelle and Max gone, Jace just by me. At least I had my parabatai... The only one to make me strong. I needed him more than ever, now, for the battle that had just commenced.

And, guess whom I saw in the distance, waltzing towards me, as if this were a street in the centre of Paris? Magnus Bane. I felt my chest tighten, but my head kept level. I keep myself emotionless, as normal, I must. For my family. I looked away for a second, but I felt myself drawn to the Warlock.

Magnus spoke, "Alec," I interrupted --

"Why have you been ignoring me?"

Magnus said, "Because you have ignored me," His golden cat-eyes shimmered like the fire, a glint of sadness, or annoyance, "when you denied my existence to your family."

I stared for a moment. A long moment. I hadn't thought -

"I didn't mean it like that, I--"

"You did what you did. Promise me you will not ignore me," Magnus stepped closer, Jace muttered something and ran off into the violence that littered the streets of Idris, "tell your family. If not, I will not be with you. I refuse to be cast aside as if I do not exist like that."

I thought that this was very meager reason, but, I wouldn't understand what it was like to be rejected for what I was until later.

"Okay. I promise. That's only if we survive." I nodded, gripping my seraph blade. I saw in the corner of my eye Magnus' blue sparks, his magic glistening as he elegantly protected my home. I charged forth into the crowd of Ilbis demons.

After defeat, Magnus and I left for the Hall of the Accords.

((This is a short chapter -- I don't know whether I should just change it so I can get more in? I'm always iffy on that, because change can often make a great story a bad one ><))
