(Takes place mid-50's)

(Y/N's POV)

It was a cold day in the village near the mountains like any other, the chilling breeze coming through my window enough to wake me up.

I decided to finally get out of bed, do the chores and prepare the dinner before my husband would get home.

As I was doing my chores, the daily newspaper was handed out to me. Apparently this week a lot more people had been disappearing, leaving without any traces. Reading further, it appeared they had 'coincidentally' all been women.

I stopped reading as I still had my chores to finish, not really thinking much of the article.
It was already afternoon and by the time my husband had arrived home, I was more than done with them.

When I got up to greet him, I realized he had come home drunk. Again.

"I see you had a really bad day at work today. Why don't I take your dirty clothes and you can get ready for dinner?" I said, not wanting him to get more upset.

"It's none of your business, bitch." A hint of growing anger in his voice. He's much drunker than I thought.

I finished putting off his clothes and made my way into the kitchen, putting down his plate of food.

"Fetch me a beer, will ya?", He said as i was just about to make my leave.

"Haven't you had enough to drink already?" I asked, knowing full well I had just made him more mad.

"Excuse me? When I tell you to do something you do it. That's why you're still under this goddamn roof, understand?!"

I didn't care how angry he would get, I didn't want to make it worse by giving him more booze, my most recent wounds still stinging.

Before I could think, he grabbed my wrist and threw me on the floor, kicking me till I almost passed out. I had enough of this, I needed a change.

When he finally went to sleep, I could safely go to my own bedroom and stayed there till the morning until he had gone to work. I knew I needed to find a better place to stay, starting from the morning.
