"Yeah.. hi," she replied with no hesitation

"Which way are you going?"Kuroo asked her.

"This way,"she pointed.

"Want some company?" he asked with a smirk. Y/n just shrugged.

"Alright, I'll walk with you, is that ok?" he asked again.
She confirmed with a nod.

"So, do you go to any clubs?" questioned Kuroo.

"Nope," she replied.

"Don't waste your words on me, dummy," he joked.

"Don't waste your words on me." she responded coldly. 1,215,959

He chuckled. "Y/n, u do realize I can just buy words right?"

"You can, but I can't." she said with a sad tone.

"Hm, maybe if you were with your soulmate..." he replied in an attempt to cheer her up. "Do you believe in the soulmate rule...? She opened her mouth but before she could speak, Kuroo quickly stopped, turned around, and put his hand over y/n's mouth.
"Don't speak. Keep walking,"

Y/n shook her head.

"How come? Didn't your friend.. uhh.. what's she called? Bella?"

"Belle," she corrected him.

"Ah, Belle. Yeah, didn't she find her soulmate? Yaku, right?" Kuroo asked.

Y/n nodded once again.

"So that's why their words spiked. So how come you don't believe in it?"

"I'm unlovable." she simply replied.

"Debatable. I actually think you're a very nice person, who just doesn't get to say what you wanna say,"

"Maybe," she sighed as she slowed down next to her house.

"You're here? Wow, we actually live pretty close to each other, maybe you should walk with me and Kenma sometime!" he smiled as he walked away.

Y/n waved weakly as she entered her home.

Y/n woke up to her alarm, as usual. She felt super tired, as usual. And she went to the bathroom and washed her face as usual... but her jaw dropped  when she looked in the mirror... Her words... they... went up? Before she slept, they were 1,215,951. But now... they were 1,216,128. She pinched herself, not believing it. Had her mother bought her more words? No, she couldn't have... that wasn't possible. Had she- Had she met her soulmate? Nope. No, no way. She didn't even have a soulmate, nobody liked her, nobody even talked to her other than Belle. So, what happened? She figured she'd talk to Belle about it, and she headed outside.

She walked outside with her head down, not focusing on where she was going, but thinking about her word count, so inevitably, she managed to bump into someone, and when she looked up, her gaze met Kuroo's.

"Hey! ,Right on time, we were just about to knock!" Kuroo smirked. "So are you walking with us?"

"Uh.." she hesitated. "Sure..."

And so they walked to school together, Kenma didn't say much, even though he had a lot of words.

"I see your words went up," Kuroo smiled.

"Mhm," Y/n replied.

"Yeah, mine went up too, and I didn't even buy them,"

"We must just be lucky," said y/n

"Or you could be soulmates," Kenma mumbled under his breath, not loud enough for either of them to hear.

"Did you say something Kenma?" asked Kuroo.

"Nope," he responded. "Nothing at all,"

And with that, they finally arrived at school.
"See you later!" Kuroo smiled as he waved to y/n who was walking to her friend Belle.

"So... Why did your words go up?" Kenma asked suspiciously, making sure y/n couldn't hear them.

"Honestly I don't know... Do you think it could be-"

"The soulmate rule?" Kenma interrupted. "That's what it seems like,"

"Maybe. But who?"

"Oh, hey y/n!" Belle exclaimed. "Oh my god what happened to you?!"
Y/n gave her friend a confused look.
"Your words!"

"Oh, I don't know, I was gonna ask you," y/n shrugged.

"Did you talk to anyone new? It might be the soulmate rule,"

"How many times do I have to tell you Belle, the soulmate rule doesn't apply to me. Might've worked for you and Yaku, but not me,"

"Jeez, sorry y/n. I didn't realize it was that big of a deal... Plus, I bet there has to be at least one other person out there who likes you...right?"

"Maybe," she replied coldly.

Y/n was walking home with her friends, as it now seemed normal for her to walk to school and back with Kenma and Kuroo now, and she had accidentally wasted at least 100 of her words, answering questions, asking questions and giving opinions. It was as if she couldn't help it when she was around him. Something just felt... more comfortable, like a home.
