Genie left for school with her Halloween costume still hanging on the back of her door at home.  Steve had warned her the week previous not to dress up for school this year.

So she rode to school with Will, dressed in perfectly casual clothes.  Well, Will wore his Halloween costume, insisting the other three would do the same.

When she exited the vehicle at school, Genie was not surprised to see her friends all dressed up in Ghostbuster uniforms.

"Hey, dorks!" She called, interrupting Mike and Lucas' squabble.  Will followed behind her, laughing at some part of the conversation he must've caught.

"Genie!  Why aren't you dressed up?" Dustin knit his brows.

"I'm dressed as an undercover cop at a middle school." Genie dropped her voice to an ominous tone.

"Really?"

"No!"

The boys all scoffed and glanced around.  "Nobody's wearing costumes..." Mike trailed off.

"Yeah, I guess it's not cool any more.  Don't worry, I'll defend you guys." She smirked, "My brother's cool or whatever."

"So is my sister." Mike protested.

"Yeah but you're a geek." Genie began her walk into the school without looking back at Mike who was frowning but hurrying to follow.

As they walked through the school other kids called out insults to which Genie responded with a swift flip of her middle finger.

"Who you gonna call?  The nerds!" A few boys taunted as they shoved through the group.

"Go to hell!" Genie yelled after them in a sing-song voice, a teasing smile playing on her lips.

"Miss Harrington." A teacher scolded from the side of the hallway.

"Sorry."

The day flew by.  The whole school was buzzing with excitement.  The evening couldn't come quick enough.

Shortly after their final class had ended, Genie found her Ghostbuster buddies walking the halls, embarrassment still painted on their face.

"Yo yo yo." She placed her hand on Will's shoulder and the group turned to face her.  "Sorry, that was weird.  Um, Wheeler I'm coming to your house tonight so your sister can do my hair and makeup."

"Why do you need makeup?" Mike wrinkled his nose.  The boys never thought Genie to be a 'makeup' kind of girl.

"Yeah, Gen, tell us you're costume!" An eager smile stretched across Will's face.  Genie shook her head, grinning smugly.

"You'll see."  She hummed.

The three boys hopped on their bikes while Will and Genie waited for their Joyce and Steve.

"See you, later!" Lucas called back to the two as the three of them biked away.

"Oh, well isn't this a peculiar sight.  Zombie Boy and Zombie Girl." A taunting voice came up behind them and Genie turned to face Troy and James.
